November 18, 201411 yr Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 42s42 seconds ago #WhiteSox will announce the signing of left-handed reliever Zach Duke later today.
November 18, 201411 yr Welp that means no Andrew Miller probably. As I posted in the other thread I'm not his biggest fan but it's a step in the right direction.
November 18, 201411 yr Sounds like a good signing to me as long as the price tag isn't outrageous, which I can't see it being.
November 18, 201411 yr Good signing...depending on the money involved. But, certainly a step to solidify the bullpen.
November 18, 201411 yr Zach Duke had a really good year last year. Curious to see the $$ but I love it.
November 18, 201411 yr QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 11:42 AM) If it is any more than a couple million guarantee, it is pissing money away. Well they threw away 3 million at Belisario last year lol sooooo I wouldn't be upset if it was that number. Edited November 18, 201411 yr by SoxPride18

November 18, 201411 yr Jon morosi Zach Duke's deal with the White Sox is a multiyear contract, source says. https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/534763683076120576
November 18, 201411 yr Dan Hayes Zach Duke allowed only eight of 41 inherited runners to score (80 percent) last season. #WhiteSox allowed 32 percent. Needed to fix that. https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/534764157372215297
November 18, 201411 yr QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 11:43 AM) Jesus DA, what did you want for LH in the bullpen? This guy has been horrible for a while both in the bullpen and starting. He has one crazy good year. I read on here don't spend money on the bullpen. REGRESSION is almost guaranteed. It's worth a little money to see if he actually has become someone you can count on, but not a lot.
November 18, 201411 yr Let's hope we get 2012/2014 Zach Duke and not the Zach Duke who was a dumpster fire in 2013....Fairly meh on the signing till I see how he performs.
November 18, 201411 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 11:46 AM) Let's make some guesses... 3 yrs/ 11.5. Too low? That'd be a great deal. Thinking something like 16 over three is more likely. Hope it is closer to 11.5 though. Love the deal. First of many moves I am sure.
November 18, 201411 yr I'm good with this. There's a little bit of a Will Ohman feel to this signing, but Duke was really, really good last year and it coincided with him throwing a cutter.
November 18, 201411 yr It will be interesting to see the dollar figure, but I think I'd rather have Duke at what I am guessing will be less than half the cost and at least one year less than Miller.
November 18, 201411 yr QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 11:48 AM) I'm good with this. There's a little bit of a Will Ohman feel to this signing, but Duke was really, really good last year and it coincided with him throwing a cutter. His K-rate went from Buerhle to Kershaw. I doubt that continues.
November 18, 201411 yr QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 11:46 AM) This guy has been horrible for a while both in the bullpen and starting. He has one crazy good year. I read on here don't spend money on the bullpen. REGRESSION is almost guaranteed. It's worth a little money to see if he actually has become someone you can count on, but not a lot. As I just pointed out, the one good year also coincided with an increased usage of cutters (or sliders) and curveballs. Based on his pitch usage charts, he's not throwing anything straight anymore.
November 18, 201411 yr I am going to guess 2 years, $9 million, with a club option for a 3rd year at $5 million or a $1 million buyout.
