He definitely was before last year. He was damn solid last year though, although I'm still not sure what Beane was thinking trading Russel for him.

Not signing him to an extension could end up being good if he doesn't pitch well. I know it's early though

The slider is Samardzija's money pitch. If he doesn't have it, he's pretty mediocre.

He's not trash, but I have never thought he was an ace. IIRC, he also fades horribly during the 2nd half of the season. If he wants ace money (which I know he does), I say make him prove it this year in the American League and then talk contract after the year.

This isnt new for this forum...at all. If some people had their way they would have this club in a constant rebuilding state so they can be miserable all year.
