Frankie Montas, perhaps the second-biggest arm in baseball behind Aroldis Chapman, is expected to join White Sox for a doubleheader Friday.

To start hopefully? That'd be exciting as hell.

damn.....i was soooo wrong on this, i never ever thought the sox will bring Montas up before aug.

So is Montas being called up as a free audition to replace Samardjiza soon? #conspiracy

Not sure this makes him the starter.

No.

He only pitches a little less than 5 innings per game in AA so he would need back-up. But they also would have a rested bullpen.

Interesting. For a guy averaging 4.2 IP per start this year, not sure if I like this move in the short term (maybe rather see EJ). But it will be exciting to see him in a Sox uni.

He'll probably only pitch if things go sideways with Danks.

Whoa! That's quite the compliment

That kinda caught me off guard actually. Is he really bringing it like that?

The guy who gave up 3 runs in 2/3 of an inning in the futures game? Cool.

My guess is gives a multi-inning long-reliever option.

Oh should we base our opinions of him on an exhibition, or his actual season?

Ugh. Don't start.

That 2/3 of an inning is a sufficient sample size to say he's a bust, clearly.

someone reassure me they are not showcasing him for a trade in some crazy attempt to win this year.

So which Royal is wearing one this weekend from Ol' Frankie?

If they don't think he can be a starter, now would exactly be the time to trade him.

When in doubt, I prefer the knee jerk reaction.

If I had to guess, I'd say that Carroll starts a game, then goes back to AAA.
