Webb just isn't very good unfortunately. Could be a change of scenery guy that gets him to throw his hardest and hope for the best

Webb should not be counted on to be a factor in 2016. He just is not progressing.

Maybe a different pitching coach on the Sox would be sufficient change of scenery.

Alexei looks more confident than some of these guys on the mound

God the Sox are so terrible, it's beyond Fun Bad; which has characterized past teams. This is just......sad. No hope for this team.

10-1 now. May as well keep your ass in the dugout Cooper. Nothing you can do

Nick Massett, Aardsma, etc.

You watch this team this year and it is absolutely amazing that no one seems to be on the hot seat

Right now, other than the Tigers, who will still spend more than us in the offseason and change managers...is there any reason to believe we have a snowball's chance in hell to finish ahead of KC, Minn or Cleve next year?

Like I said earlier...that's exactly what we should be doing with him right now. He's got 2 starts left. Work him the last 2 starts and hopefully that builds his arm up next year so that maybe next year or even 2017 we don't have to worry about a "dead arm" hitting him in July.

Didn't he have high pitch counts in April?

None of the AL Central teams are sure things going forward. It does seem like major changes need to take place for the Sox to have a chance again.

No and we shouldn't. If we're smart though we can set ourselves to finish up ahead of them in 2017. If we try to finish ahead of them in 2016 that could leave us in just as much of an unprepared mess for 2017. If we aim for 2017 we can set ourselves up to actually do that.

Not because of this second half or tonight, but they really should listen on Sale offers this offseason.

If the Sox can build around a 2017 rotation around a prospect in a Sale trade, Rodon, Quintana, Fulmer, and maybe Johnson or Montas, they should do that.

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 08:36 PM)
He went 7. Big deal.

Seriously. Surprised people still complain about Cooper and pitch counts. We've had a terrific run under Cooper with the lack of major injuries to the starters. He knows what he's doing.

Yep someone like Eduardo Rodriguez would be a great fit.

That almost certainly means trading Sale.

They're probably going to be too afraid to trade him due to the blowback/White Flag spectre so Quintana gets dealt instead.

He's hard to replace unless you find someone better. The Sox never replace with someone better. They look for a former favorite player from the 80s and 90s.

Not a good effort tonight. Highlight was Trayce's double

I don't think they trade him either.

Cooper might know what he's doing but it feels a bit like Bob Stoops and OU. Needs a new challenge/spark and change of scenery. Things have gotten stale and a sense of apathy is setting in.

Well, the Sox are winning tomorrow.

Indians have been 70-70, 71-71, 72-72, and now 73-73. They've lost the next game all three times so far.

Alex Fernandez sounds random enough. Bobby Thigpen, maybe?

I want Juan Agosto. I used to call him called "Juan Disgusto"

Edited by Soxfest

the sox have lost faith in themselves, lost confidence and lost hope.

all they are doing to going thru the motions.

someone in the dugout needs to come call them out.

this is the time for a manager or captain to do it..... who will it be....

silence and the sounds of crickets.

We've got Sale for 2017, 2018, and 2019. No reason why his value will drop in a trade before the end of 2017 unless he gets hurt. I mean, it'll drop but it'll drop to "level someone might pay".

But if we're mad at that...then be mad at this clusterf*** of a season. Because we had no patience we blew 2015 for nothing, blew a ton of free agent money, blew our minor league depth, and failed to give lots of development time to our system. Maybe we should take a lesson from that. We won't, of course, and then we'll be having this discussion next year.
