Yankees could target Samardjiza

Featured Replies

I'm all ready to be pissed when Samardzija has an ERA around 3 with his new team next season.

Good news, I'll take the 22nd draft pick.

That's not how it works...

The Yankees will just lose that pick at 22 and it vanishes. The Sox will get a comp pick at the end of the first round.

Thank god. I don't want that mediocre pitcher anywhere close to a Sox uniform next year.

Good riddance...

Seems like an awful fit given the power lefties hit for off of him and the short porch in RF

A fly ball pitcher in that stadium. What could go wrong?

Imagine if he pitched in Coors Field for half his starts...lol his ERA would be over 6 for sure.

Reporters must be hard up to fill their twitter quotas, if we have to read constant speculation. I am sure Smard will be targeted by a number of clubs and I bet the Sox talk to him too

He and Rothschild are familiar with each other from their time on the Cubs, so it makes sense. It also shouldn't surprise anyone when he promptly bounces back next year, and his one magical season on the Sox will end up being an outlier year.

I'd imagine that they'd be much more likely to target him if they were looking to make major FA acquisitions elsewhere as well such that he'd only cost them a 2nd rounder.

Chum the water in NY they will eat Shark alive.

The qualifying offer for MLB free agents this offseason will be $15.8 million, up from $15.3 million last year

Must give credit to Iwritecode. He initially came up with 15.5M so I'd say he was pretty damn close.

This is good since there's no chance Samardzija accepts the QO. Bye bye.

Thats great news for the Sox. There were projections earlier in the summer that it would be north of $17M. It lowers the risk of Shark accepting at least.

I remember reading over the summer where Shark to the Yankees at some point (or the Dodgers or Cardinals) was a possibility.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least. Nor would it surprise me if he rebounded to have a good year as soon as he got out of town.

Has happened going all the way back to David Wells. That's the "White Sox way."

Yeah he isn't accepting. Thanks for the draft pick and peace out.

Worst scenario = trade Q, over pay Smarj.

They only way he can perform better is go back to the NL.

I'd rather have the Sox bring up one of the kids to pitch. IF the team is going to suck I'd rather it be due to youth than veterans.

Shark had a lousy season with a few hints that he could pitch better. One year is good test. I would say let someone else overpay but keep Q maybe we could ge some offense to back him up

hes going to win the cy young with his new team

Hahn said we're gonna offer the QO.

Yankees would be a good spot for him and go back to their former ways of overpaying for average to below average players/pitchers.

Do tell what average to below average players the Yankees have overpaid for in the past.

Never a doubt in my mind. And he will reject it.
