Winter Meetings: Predictions

Featured Replies

Oh I think the Mariners are being the mariners, wildly flailing around to look like they are being proactive, just interesting to find those that may get desparate for a move.

There's a thread dedicated to Winter Meetings Day1

It was closed

So, the Mariners pitching staff is awfully awful. They just traded for Miley from the Bosox, and are in on Adam Lind at 1b.

They seem to be going for it. I wonder if we would be trade partners at all. Do they have anything interesting beside Alex Jackson, whom I'm guessing would be untouchable for them.

What do you think of Ketel Marte?

I unfortunately know very little of other clubs farm systems, and know next to nothing about west coast teams and their players.

While not expected to increase payroll, hearing White Sox still aim to be competitive instead of starting a major rebuild.

Can't wait to acquire average talent

Basically. Probably get Cabrera, trade for Lawrie and that's it.

Meh, KW can't help himself. He wants to make a splash like last season. Watch.

So far the meetings are starting out slow. I think last year there were more trades than like the previous 5 years or so combined (or something crazy like that).

Preller is on a short leash this year, so things are going to be less crazy. The Dodgers are definitely making a splash though.

has anyone ever gone to the winter meeting????

No and I don't really see the point.

Kenny must like mediocrity. Its almost like he makes a few moves. Hopes for regression from the rest of the division and then figures we can win the whole damn thing. Then reload the following year and do it again.

From sound of things, #WhiteSox don't intend to trade any of their top starting pitchers. Prospect arms or relievers likelier.t

Goodbye Spencer Adams and Fulmer. Kenny has a mythical world series to win this year. Odds are for suckers. He has a believe wristband and prospects to trade.

It's his second year as GM. I don't think he's on a short leash

if the sox were going to go with a big bat as many are expecting, and it will be ok for them to sacrifice a draft pick,

why not Chris Davis???

It's been a very quiet start to the meetings. I fear that the Sox may not do much. I know there's still a few days left in the meetings and plenty of time afterwards, but I really expected to see some action by now...or at least hear some promising rumors.

Hopefully today is the day when something happens.

Yes, it's a blast. You can meet to many interesting people, be on vacation at a high end resort, and check Twitter a lot.

This could be out of the box, but what if the Sox signed Chris Davis to play third base?

That would be interesting to say the least.

Talked about "untouchables", Chris Sale, Jose Abreu, and Jose Quintana

Interesting note, while Hahn was talking about the untouchables he said "Carlos, err... Jose Quintana".

Rodon is not an untouchable? Or maybe he has Cargo on the mind?

Rodon has to be pretty close to that group. I am sure he would be the 4th name and was likely on Hahn's mind.

I have called him Carlos myself several times. There used to be a Carlos Quintana on the Red Sox I think.

Or maybe he was thinking Rodon but wants people to think Q is untouchable. All this AJ Pollock stuff, I would trade Q straight up for him in a heartbeat.
