When it comes to lack of funds, I dispute everything he says. There is an extensive track record showing he isn't being straight.

you are preaching to the choir on ref to funds and profit the sox makes.

but having that money or the ability to spend it as we as fans sees it id one things, for the sox org to do it is another.

When they make a move or when they don't. That's when we know.

Hawk Harrelson and Bob Nightengale

The moment you "hear" about what the White Sox may be doing, that means they very much won't be doing that.

Eh, I wouldn't mind this at the right price. I mean, what are the odds we actually use that comp pick to draft someone who becomes even half the player Upton is?

QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 08:24 AM)
you make a great point.

if upton is signed, would the sox loose the 2nd rounder instead of their comp pick??

They would lose the comp pick.

Just keep in mind teams aren't going to say we have a boatload of money to spend. thwt would destroy them negotiating and with the public because they would either have to spend that money immediately or be considered cheap just worried about how much they can pocket, you know, like the rest of us.

so brilliant, why even post your mock anything if the only time is respond when to Sox FO does anything.

I think we should know by now that there's always some money available that the Sox don't talk about. In the past, I can remember some of the folks on this board with inside info saying that if the right player was available and they fit what the Sox were trying to do, they could find the money.

That being said, I'm not sure that a high-priced OFer would be the type of guy they'd find money for. I think they'd spend elsewhere first.

can't fault that logic.... so wasn't it the second one who said something about upton and the sox??

Because it's nice to have ideas thrown around here.

believe me when i say it is not the comp pick i am concerns with, to be honest the comp pick for upton would be a great trade off. but will that move limit all other move b/c of the so call 20 mil the FO stipulated before???

It really is. nightingale is usually really good with White Sox stuff, and when Hawk shows love for opposing players you can pretty must rest assured their name is somewhere on the wish list.

Yes on MLB Network last night. But our own, RaBBit had it before Nightingale mentioned it.

you make an excellent point. can't fault that.

good call

but i do seeing this to be a move that kw and owner would do, to compete with the northside in the media war.

i mean this is a nice way

but nice insight in reading between the lines. i am not that smart.

Wouldn't shock me if we start to hear the Sox are interested in Cueto. Hawk gushed about him last year, saying he'd love to see him on the Sox.

but you just said you don't listen to these things unless if comes from the FO.... a little inconsistency here... uh

per mlb rumors.

Too bad they can't get that one back!
