Bears sign Jerrell Freeman, 3 years

This is a huge move. Such an upgrade. ILB is now a position of strength.

Also re-signed Unrein to 2 year deal.

LOVE that signing

Also re-signed Unrein to 2 year deal.

He was a good piece in the red zone when we needed 1ish yard rushes

*In my best Drumpf voice*

HUGE.

I like the Freeman deal a lot. I know he's older, but I'm completely fine with that. You can't have everyone on the team be young, and it's good to have solid veterans that can show the young guys how things are done. Plus, Freeman is just a good player. He'll be a nice piece for the next couple years.

Bringing back Unrein is a solid move too. Good for depth.

Freeman is really solid and is a very good stop gap. Might have the Bears pick a guy like Jaylon Smith in the 2nd round if he's still there.

No way can you take him that high with his injury.

I'd be surprised if he last in the mid rounds, but if that's the case, I'd still take a chance on him. Still a great talent.

Well, Bears won't be drafting Prescott now

Martavius Bryant about to be popped for a year long drug suspension, which means this is likely his 6th violation

And the Bears re-signed Mariani

Zach Miller visiting the Rams today. Hopefully the Bears can lock up Hicks today.

Slight correction - the 10 game suspension would have been up next per all reports, but if he does something like "refuse a drug test" the penalty is larger than the penalty for actually testing positive.

Bears sign Hicks to a 2 year deal.

Another nice move. Now just what do we do with DBs.

Draft.

If I had to guess, they either grab David Bruton or go the draft route again as far as safety goes. Fox and secondary coach Ed Donatell are 2 of the best when it comes to coaching up DBs so I would go the draft route.

.....Speaking of guessing......Posted this on March 8th on another board....

Sign/Resign

ILB Danny Trevathon 7M

ILB Brandon Marshall 7M (Yes I think its worth giving up a 2R pick to keep these 2 ILBs together)

DT. Akiem Hicks 4M

TE Ladarius Green 5M

OG Jeff Allen 6M

CB Tracey Porter 4M

DT Mitch Unrein 1.5M

OC Will Montgomery 1.5M

RB Jaquizz Rodgers 1.5M

Pretty darn close.

I don't think pace wants to be forced to use draft to address needs.

I think we need either one CB or S in Free Agency. Love what we've done so far though.

I hope teams like the Bears signing ILB helps Darron Lee fall in the draft a little bit. He is starting to become my favorite player in this draft.

Reggie Ragland as well.

I don't think Lee gets out of the top 20. Packers may have a good DL or solid pass rusher on the board though.

Yeah I don't think Lee falls to them, not with that speed.

I really like Jarran Reed and Kevin Dodd.

I loves me some Jarran Reed. Depending on who is there, I really wouldn't mind the Bears taking him at 11.

Tony Jefferson told Kyle Long to "recruit him"..... Would love to see something happen there. 24 year old safety, 78 tackles, 3 picks, 2 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles last year.

Cards can match any offer, but with the talent they already have in the secondary, they might not.

Yeah, I could see him going that early. He is one of the guys that people don't know where he will be drafted. Some say early first round and some late first round.
