May 6, 20169 yr Even after losing these last 2 games, the Sox are still up 4 games each on KC/Detroit/Cleveland. So, it could be worse. Just start winning again and everything will be ok.
May 7, 20169 yr They are the team to worry about because they have comparable starting pitching and can go 5-6 deep there... Offensively, Kipnis, Brantley, Santana, Napoli, Gomes and Lindor give them six legit threats. Plus they have a much better farm system than anyone in the division that's competing legitimately for the division. Edited May 7, 20169 yr by caulfield12
May 7, 20169 yr QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2016 -> 08:22 PM) They are the team to worry about because they have comparable starting pitching and can go 5-6 deep there... Offensively, Kipnis, Brantley, Santana, Napoli, Gomes and Lindor give them six legit threats. Plus they have a much better farm system than anyone in the division that's competing legitimately for the division. ...and they have Francona.
May 7, 20169 yr OTOH, the Indians don't have the financial resources the White Sox do to add payroll in July/August. So it's basically even...as they do have a number of legit Top 100 prospects.
May 7, 20169 yr Through 27 games Sox 19-8 Cle 14-13 Det 14-13 KC 14-13 Min 8-19 5 game lead after a month of games. Just what the Sox wanted. Don't blow this.
May 9, 20169 yr QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 7, 2016 -> 01:09 PM) Moustakas to DL with fractured thumb. Royals' luck from the past two seasons is starting to run out.
May 9, 20169 yr Cuthbert/Colon will probably be their first two options...whether they can hold the fort or not offensively will be the question. Some other players in that line-up really will need to step up besides Hosmer. Cain and especially Morales still struggling.
May 9, 20169 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ May 9, 2016 -> 01:32 PM) Royals' luck from the past two seasons is starting to run out. Time to push down on the gas and blast through May. The stars don't align better than this
May 10, 20169 yr Chris Young, a crafty and fierce veteran, has allowed 13 homers in 32 1/3 innings this season. On Monday, he faced 14 batters and surrendered five solo shots, including two by former Royal Carlos Beltran, a 39-year-old who entered Monday batting just .236 this season. The homer assault represented all of the damage Young allowed in 2 2/3 innings. It was enough to ensure that the Royals continued their precipitous fall, even after solo homers from Alex Gordon and Eric Hosmer, who went deep for the sixth time this season. May 11, 20169 yr I like to see the Royals losing like this, but I'm a bit scared by the Yankees bats coming alive just in time for our trip to Yankee Stadium.
May 11, 20169 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ May 10, 2016 -> 09:46 PM) I like to see the Royals losing like this, but I'm a bit scared by the Yankees bats coming alive just in time for our trip to Yankee Stadium. Not with our two studs going.
May 11, 20169 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ May 10, 2016 -> 10:46 PM) I like to see the Royals losing like this, but I'm a bit scared by the Yankees bats coming alive just in time for our trip to Yankee Stadium. They did this against Chris Young and Kris Medlen, with an assist from Joakim Soria.
May 12, 20169 yr QUOTE (shysocks @ May 11, 2016 -> 07:17 AM) They did this against Chris Young and Kris Medlen, with an assist from Joakim Soria. Both Young and Medlen to the DL today
May 12, 20169 yr Author QUOTE (fathom @ May 12, 2016 -> 01:53 PM) Both Young and Medlen to the DL today Jon Morosi @jonmorosi #Royals place 40% of rotation on DL in 1 press release: Chris Young (right forearm strain), Kris Medlen (right rotator cuff inflammation).
May 13, 20169 yr This might be nearing the official end of the Tigers' ERA in the ALCD... Had a 5-0 lead at Balt with Pelfrey pitching his first decent game of the year and the bullpen's copied the White Sox fiasco in TX (granted, they're actually using their "best" relievers and still getting rocked). 7-5 Orioles going to the top of the 8th.
May 13, 20169 yr 5 over CLE, 6 1/2 over KC, 7 1/2 over DETROIT High water mark for Sox was 6/7/8 after Monday. Cleveland's got a three game series in Minnesota, and we have Tanaka Sunday...so wouldn't be shocked to see the Indians pick up at least one game. Then again, the Twins have to beat SOMEONE this year. Yankees have won 5 of their last 7. Edited May 13, 20169 yr by caulfield12

May 14, 20169 yr QUOTE (fathom @ May 14, 2016 -> 04:22 PM) Nothing like the Indians getting 4 games next week vs the Reds Indians play the Reds and Nationals four games, and the Sox play the Cubs and Phillies four games. Hope that becomes a wash in the end. Twins up 2-1 on Kluber in the 5th. They'll blow it.
