5/23 Game 2 - Indians @ Sox, in 30 minutes

Featured Replies

Hey Sox split hte DH, which is what they really needed to do. Pressure is on CLE to beat both Sale and Quintana, they're the ones playing catch up not the Sox.

That game was...very underwhelming.

Oh well. We can't really complain about a split. Just win with Sale and Q. 3/4 is fine.

Avila looks so weak this year. No bat speed at all and cannot hit anything moving down. Very disappointing offensive production from the catchers this year.

Didn't get the signing at the time. I understand his incremental defensive appeal, but I don't think it's worth his horrid offense

Wieters accepted the QO.

3/4 is only fine?? You seem hard to please!

No bats in Game Two. We look like a .500 team (that could mean an 8 over .500 team when all is said and done since we are 8 over). Team just doesn't have the offense this year. s*** happens I guess. Our home struggles are disappointing of late.

Navarro has offensive capabilities, he's just slow as s***. I have more faith in his offense than Avila's.

Catch up? Trust me, it's too early to be scoreboard watching, way too early. That's absurd any pressure in on Cleveland. They have a great manager who knows how to handle early season games.

It's a shame they aren't one player. One has a better bat, the other a better glove.

Games in May count just as much in the standings as games in September.

Then you would have traditional useless backup catcher who just has to play because the number one needs a day off. ;)

My thoughts on the double header:

Glad the team got a split.

Zach Duke...not good.

Eric Johnson...four A player at best, not good. His ship has sailed, he gets ZERO more chances in my book. Try some other stiff.

Sox offense against a pitcher who came in with an ERA OF ALMOST EIGHT...brutal, absolutely impotent. Flat out bad.

Hope Sale can keep winning tomorrow.

Yes but there's absolutely no "pressure" on Cleveland. It's this early. The Sox are not playing like a very good baseball team. Again, Cleveland has a great manager. They're not feeling any pressure, certainly not against the Sox in May.

Johnson just got optioned back to Charlotte.

Too bad, but Johnson is one of those "change of scenery" candidates. He could get his act together once we give up on him and dump him. Maybe he'll always struggle, but sometimes a change of scenery does wonders. I'd actually let him finish the season as No. 4 starter. This team isn't contending if Rodon doesn't suddenly turn into Sale/Q. Our hitting blows and our pitching is good, but again, Rodon needs to become the Rodon he'll be two years from now -- dominant, not just good.

Wonder who is coming up? Another pitcher? Shuck? Hayes? Coats? Bourgeois?

Well that guy actually did a great job. He knew the Sox couldn't get around on his fastball even if it was straight.

He'll be dealt to a NL team and be a #4/5 starter for years to come

I hope it's someone who can help the team haha.

I'll do EJ + a low level prospect for Bruce. The Reds are decimated at SP

EJ can probably do OK in the NL.

On paper, not a bad deal. Give the two Reds a chance to get the Sox into the playoffs. I'd either do that or just let Johnson keep starting games until he finally has a good outing. He can't be this bad, can he?

EJ has no stock at this point. Doubt we can get Bruce with him as the main piece.

Oh yes he can.

Not sure if this is right but by my count in ten starts by someone other than Sale,Q,Latos or Rodon that pitcher still has yet to win a game. (Danks, Johnson, Gonzalas)

Also 18 runs scored in the last seven games with seven of them coming in a single game! :o
