5/24 - Indians (Tomlin) @ Sox (Sale) - 7:10 PM

I know it's stupid to worry about it, but I just want to see Sale win at least one of them.

The Sox have been so bad as a team the past few years that I've had to settle for rooting for individual players to win awards. I feel like Sale has been worthy of the award quite a few times already but has never gotten the recognition he deserves. Just hope this game is a minor blip on the radar for him and the team as a whole.

Trust me, I've done the same. If he has these kinds of starts for a month, we can worry. But just one, not at all. He's still the clear frontrunner at this point.

Saladino is a good defensive player who is fine as the 9th hitter. Problem is the catcher and CF spot are also players that are defense-first. Just not enough offensive talent in the lineup

Take his whole career, and it's still not .270.

His whole career is only around 300 ABs.

And Fathom just listed the 3 hardest positions to ACQUIRE in a line-up.

C/CF/SS

You could probably add pure leadoff hitter and #2 hitter in today's baseball environment. Left-handed hitting (Lillian shout out).

Thankfully, we should have SS covered with Anderson, but good luck with the other 2.

I think we can carry Saladino & Jackson if we can get a legit DH. Avila is a real problem and Navarro is such a bad framer that he's not the full time answer either. The catcher position has to be addressed IMO.

Offense decided to call it a night after the Avi play

It's honestly just painful watching these games. It sucks not really having any hope that the team is going to come back. Every pitcher they face just seems to have their number.

That and it's only May. Shouldn't really even be talking Cy Young this early.

We really need to have coaches like other teams in the league that 100% specialize in certain aspects of teaching the game even at the big league level...refinement. Defense, baserunning, bunting, fundamentals, etc.

The cronyism thing has helped in the case of Cooper being one of the best for a long time, but it often hurts just as much.

And where the heck is Vince Coleman?

It's consistent. They don't have that in the minors either.

And that hopeless feeling didn't sink in this season until the top of the 9th after Ryan Rua's homer to put the Rangers up 13-11.

DJ and Farmer said the same thing on the radio, you always had the sense in the late innings with this team that the White Sox were capable of mounting a comeback and would fight to the very last out.

That's gone, at least for now. Doesn't mean it can't return...

Such a long career.

If anything, Chris Sale's CY status just went from "nobody else gets any righteous votes at all" to "no one else gets a single first place vote". No biggie.

He was due to lose eventually. He got tired of beating two lineups and the pen.

With his sample size, I feel like you can barely call it a career haha

Exactly

Heck of an overall game for Avila...yikes.

Indians 4th and 5th starters just dominating the Sox. This team is just not good right now

Indians defense has been great

I can't be too mad at this team. They just suck all over and there is nothing they can do about it. They got off to a pretty darn good start but was a mirage. It happens. Thankfully they didn't drag us into the summer with any blind hope.

We have 4 hits since the first batter of the game

Just curious is anyone following some other teams this year on MLBTV?

Yep, Sale had a rough game, but I feel for the guy. It must be very demanding for our pitchers knowing that giving up 3 runs in a game most likely means an "L" The White Sox seem to have a very hard time getting over the 3-runs per game hump. The offense is just plain bad. They had a pretty good streak, but they have come back to reality. And somehow, I have the hope they can turn it around and win this division.

Why are you all so concerned about his Cy young chance? We got.dominated by another mid level or lower starter once again and the lead shrinks. The Indians and Royals are playing some good baseball right now. Sox look like they aren't having fun anymore

Damnit Desmond and Rua!!!

Turned it off at 4-1 to watch hockey. Sucks but Sale was due to lose and he does against Cleveland. No big deal at all. The worry is this anemic offense. This team isn't going to be in first come Friday night

Good point. Confusing how the team could start that well. Maybe it's as simple as we won 3 of 4 in Oakland and carried the momentum of the good start all the way til the disaster game in Texas.

Sox blow chunks. No offense. Can't win at home again. I'd feel much better if we didn't have this experiment happening at manager. We could have hired Francona at one point and didn't. And yes I realize I was back on the Robin bandwagon after our bad start. But this team can't hit and is severely flawed again. Like you said it was a mirage and yep, it happens.

Hate to be a bad fan, as bad fans talk like this, but the Sox suck. Whether they can get it back together once they hit the road, where mysteriously they play better, we shall see.
