If you don't believe in Petricka or Putnam, why are they even on the roster? Just for mop up? Does Ventura even look at the splits for Jennings? You just can't give up 3 runs in that inning. As Farmer and DJ always say, runs scored by the opposition from the 7th inning on have a way of coming back to bite you in the end. That was especially the case tonight. Good point. But it's the traditional textbook manager's response, LHB vs. RHP. I agree, though, Beckham was likely to at least make contact (this season)...somewhere. Shuck doesn't get enough playing time to maintain any type of offensive rhythm. Gordon's had a lot more AB's this year. Plus, the colder weather. All those elements would argue for using Beckham.
