  1. Past hour
  2. The big problem with a cap is that MLB isn't like the other sport in that they have an anti-trust exemption, and the lions share of money comes from local deals, and national ones. You can't build a model that works the same way, because the revenues aren't the same way, The problem isn't that the Dodgers are spending, its that so many teams who can, are not.
  3. Cags will (probably) be fine, but the rush by some to crown him as the one that got away while calling Colson a bust is funny in retrospect
  4. They aren't though. Take a lot at what the Yankees make on paper.
  5. https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/chicago-white-sox-2026-international-signings?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage I don’t see this anywhere on this board unless I’m missing something.
  6. A cap is great for 100% of the owners and that's as far as it goes in my opinion. Which is why the union will never agree to one and wait for the owners to fold their tents as historically they have every time.
  7. Obviously we will see what happens. But historically the owners has collapsed every single time. The MLBPA is the strongest union in the world and I don't expect things to radically change this time around. And just as a reminder revenue sharing is already taking place in a number of areas among MLB. And of course said owners are using that money to help their bank accounts instead of improving on-field produce which is why that system isn't working either. Owners have been saying players make to much money literally since the 1880's. Even WITH a salary cap, that attitude won't change. Just my opinion it's time for the White Sox to start acting like a big market team and look out for themselves if they really want to compete.
  8. Hey, let's make it about that: https://www.mlb.com/news/top-100-mlb-players-for-2026-by-mlb-network Colson #88. I choose to believe this is as low as he'll be on this list for several years. Obviously no other Sox crack the list.
  9. Imagine this lineup in two years: Antonacci, 2B* Teel, CA* Cholowsky, SS C. Montgomery, 3B* Murakami, 1B* Bonemer, LF B. Montgomery, RF# Clifford, DH* Baldwin# / FA / Trade, CF Try to move Quero after the 2026 season for a CF. Carlson replaces Antonacci the following year if all goes to plan (and pushes Roch to 2B). Regardless, there would be a fuckton of potential with that lineup and adding 25 dongs from that Big Red Dog is a key part of it. Make it happen Getz!
  10. Yup, Mets fans are saying the same things. Stearns doesn’t want to commit to that many years. Robert actually makes perfect sense for them. He’s a high risk, high reward player who they can afford to roll the dice on I hopes of narrowing their gap to the Dodgers come the playoffs.
  11. A cap and floor with revenue sharing is what this league needs. I’m sure someone will say “the players will never agree to it”, but I feel like there are enough small market clubs who will take a hard stance this time and such a construct will help the broader player’s union if negotiated fairly.
  12. Today
  13. Yes. But when they not want to give a 5/6/7/8 year deal , $30M+ deal. Plus 100% tax on the years they spend over on it
  14. The more I think about it, wouldn’t it make more sense for the Mets just to sign Bellinger (or even Bader) than give up assets for Robert?
  15. A cap is great for 95% of the players. A cap is great for 90% of fans. A cap is great for the sport. Problem is the 5% are leading the union, and the owners of the 10% had been loud and influential for a while but those tides have turned. Other owners are on board now. The players have undoubtedly lost out on money over the last decade because of the lack of revenue and profit sharing. Fans have lost out on interest.
  16. I think as a NRI with a potential salary of like $2.5M he’d be a great add. I agree, I wouldn’t want to hand him a major league job though.
  17. My guess is they haven’t offered a prospect like Clifford just yet. That being said, they desperately need a CF and there is no one out there of Robert’s caliber. And if we’re being honest, Clifford is a good not great prospect. Enough warts there that he’s theoretically attainable for Robert. The only challenge is the Mets don’t really need money, so absorbing part of his contract probably doesn’t help.
  18. Well s%*#, @Chicago White Sox. Will this Clifford thing into existence like Murakami.
  19. And Clifford is only 22. Like you said, hiding him at LF/DH for a couple seasons wouldn’t be the end of the world. We are already used to bad defense in LF anyways. 🤣
  20. Not at all costs and going into debt. There is a tipping point where the costs will out weigh it.
  21. Yeah. He’s here now but a 2-year deal isn’t “long-term.”
  22. The teams have more costs than just salary. I think most agree with the reports that JR brought in Ishbia to pay debts and Ishbia turned down the twins deal due to the debts. However, you are correct that we do not know for sure and never will unless there is a cap and/or floor for salary that requires it.
