  1. Past hour
  2. He broke out of that slump. What I am saying is that against major league pitching he did not look like a guy that could only hit at Charlotte. Plus he played good defense at not his natural position.
  3. Always be open to selling; you usually get the best of it value-wise, and it makes sense if you trade where you have depth, a player you won't be able to extend, etc. Heck we sold tonight (I don't know whether or not it was a great deal, but we sold). Sox certainly shouldn't be buying aging pitchers.
  4. A weak draft that's getting weaker by the day... Sox are all in. Meanwhile big league team is competing and we're selling off for 4 years from now. Classic Getz.
  5. He put up below average production in the bigs. I get it that he'll only get better, and there was a 9 game slump in the middle of that.
  6. Lackey is expected to go 2, fwiw
  7. Is this a dig at my player projections? If so, please provide some examples of all these “rosy WAR guarantees” I have made. I’m happy to be humbled, but don’t appreciate digs that come without any specifics. And yes, he’s slow as f***. I fully disagree with you on his power though. In AAA, his 90th % EV was in the 80th percentile and his hard hit rate in the 76th. More importantly, his max EV was in the 95th percentile. Was his HR output inflated from playing half his home games at Truist? No doubt, but dude was hitting the s%*# out of the ball with his new stance. And he was doing this all with good swing decisions and solid in-zone contact to boot. I’m excited for an extra pick and the extra bonus dollars it comes with. I just feel like this is an overpay to get those luxuries.
  8. Yearly reminder that yes, the slotted picks are expected to sign.
  9. Will soon find out. In a much tougher league this season. Trade won't provide definitive results for at least 4-5 seasons. Right when Getz is trying to retain his position with Ishbia.
  10. Mentioning Elko and Burger like they were equal in value seemed odd to me.
  11. Oh thank heaven the Sox won on 7/11 !! Money in the bank for the power of the Pope !
  12. Yea, I thought we could have gotten a boost to the rotation, even if it was just a back end innings eater type for him… or could have included him in a deal for a stud. The Sox really must have a dude in mind tomorrow.
  13. I do think he is re-stocking the minors a bit after so many prospects have graduated. I also think he really believes in the guys doing the hitting development with Colson, Vargas, Antonacci (5th rd.) and Gonzalez improving quite a bit. Remember Bonemer was the 43rd pick and Fauske the 44th. Wolkow was a 7th round pick #209 and he's still 20 and making progress. McDougal was a 5th rd. pick too along with Gabe Davis and Oppor who was promising until he lost it as fast as he found it. The draft class is considered deep among college position players and LH HS pitchers.
  14. White Sox career fWAR from 2nd and 3rd round picks has to be somewhere between 26th through 30th in mlb. Even international has had a higher rate of return...at least until the pools were capped.
  15. It's actually more diabolical my friend....Pooh Bear was Getzy's favorite as a child...it will be traumatic on an epic scale.
  16. I think Smith is more of a drafting failure: 5 inning college pitcher with a less than smooth delivery. And to then pay him over-slot. As for this trade, it's not a great value trade. That said, I think it's pretty clear that the Sox weren't big fans of Gonzalez; heck he had to beg to be coached. (I had hope they'd take the opportunity to dump Beni, but alas). They really wanted the extra pick so they had to pay up for it. I hope Shirley makes great use of it. But, please, no reaching (see Smith above).
  17. Add Emerstud to this team and they score 30
  18. Caleb Wilson is him. Whole top 4 is showing out early.
