Good call on Hendricks and the impact ABS would have had on him. He always got a few inches off the corner.

Is It Time to Move Colson Down
It’s because we don’t have many of them. Need to get to where the best teams in the league are where we can freely trade from our farm without completely depleting it. We’re on the right track but not there yet.

Pitchers just kinda find it, huh (sean burke rules)
I said this ISNT a deep thought.

I mean he's not dead or anything, but because of the type of stuff he has his window for success is much more narrow than most. His stuff has to be more perfect, and he has less room for loss within it.

The fact they were able to turn Crochet into a starter may have led to some overconfidence. But I do think part of the interest in Mason Miller isn't just 'wow dominant backend guy' but 'if we don't get a solid guy here we'll never be able to convert taylor'

And that's another Walk off special White Sox winner!
I also saw Satchel Paige pitch for the St. Louis Browns in 1949, I believe. My Dad wanted to see him pitch, so I got to tag along. Never forgot it, obviously. He threw a few eephus pitches, and the crowd roared. They loved him.

I think Thorpe gets severly slept on here. Before his elbow blew up (wasn't it rumored his 2nd to last start?) - He had 1 start out of his first 7 that was over 2 earned runs (and it was a blow up of 7) and also every one of those starts were 3 or less hits.. I think he can be a serious guy though I assume the advanced stats will never love him due to his velo.

Development isn't linear for sure, and it definitely isn't certain. But I will say that the most important thing here should be putting the players in the best position to succeed, and not the team in the best position to win. Those two things might not be the same things at the same time.

What is your trade deadline prediction?
I think they will be ambitious: two starting pitchers (one rental and one controlled); a right handed hitting catcher, and a right handed reliever. Think we are fine with lefties but we only have really one high leverage righty outside of Taylor.

Teel didn't look good when he was healthy for the short time he was active

Here's what I want: Robbie Ray - Practically a salary dump - trade 1 or two backend top 30 guys. Take on all the salary Tyler Stephenson - Again, low level prospects traded. Take on all the salary Grayson Rodriguez - Certainly been doo doo since being out practically 2 years. Lots of injury history but has a fun ceiling. This would more so be a buy low and project for future years.

Thank you, Jack Handey.

This isn't a deep thought but Sean Burke suddenly becoming an Ace after Davis Martin suddenly becoming an Ace, and I find it hard to get too down when players like Noah Schulz or Hagen Smith have these huge depressions. They could literally snap into it tomorrow with some new cutter grip that is unstoppable. I thought we'd have the worst pitching staff in history and they keep finding it. I'm kinda a fan of this new pitching draft strategy of just selecting pitchers that are at least 6'4 and expect to be around 220 and just hope they figure it out at the right time. Thanks

Is It Time to Move Colson Down
Sox fans get so protective and obsessed with their top prospects for some reason. I would think of any franchise you guys would understand how baseball works. I'm all for packaging Colson in a trade. We have Roch now.

I bet he’d like pitching against Cleveland’s offense more than the Dodgers.

Completely agree. The bullpen is actually pretty good and like you said, Richards is solid in his mop-up role. And this is another part of why I've been annoyed by the "make every starter prospect a reliever" strategy. Mason Adams could very well be an upgrade over Schultz/Fedde in the rotation. McDougal was brought back as a reliever because they said he wouldn't be fully stretched out until mid-August... well guess what, that's only ~14 days away and he's still in AAA anyway, so you might as well have stretched him out and added him to the MLB rotation. He needs the innings too...

Yeah that would sting for sure, but if you're going to do that, do it for a guy like Webb vs Detmers.

We have hope, we got The Pope!
I heard they have a very old stadium available right in the center of town.

So awesome. Thanks for sharing. I love that you got to experience that.

Also Hendricks was amazing, obviously he'd be a great outcome. If we get 20 starts and a 4.5 ERA out of Thorpe one year I'd call that a win at this point. But I don't expect much.

Is It Time to Move Colson Down
Some of his big at-bats are painful, and it seems to be a mental thing. Alleviating some pressure might be a good thing, but really sucks we don’t have Teel healthy to switch spots in the batting order.

What is your trade deadline prediction?
I think it would be a pretty painful haul too. With Carlson plus one of Smith or Schulz, a top 10-15 guy (wolkow/smith). But the people say they want control etc etc
-
What is your trade deadline prediction?
I want this real bad. Go big if you're going to move Carlson.

I would like David Stern to disallow that trade.
