  2. With it sounding like Lackey isn't in the mix at all, I wonder if the Sox are just seeing which of Emerson/Roch will take less money to sign. Kind of unfortunate they share an agent though. All things being equal if I can pocket an extra million with Emerson who I already like slightly more than Cholowsky, easy decision for me. An aside, slamming Tyler Bell down at 1.1 would be crazy fun. He's a top 5 guy for me easy. Cut a deal for 6 to 6.5 million then go hog wild with the rest of the class? Good times. Sounds like the Rays are entertaining that exact scenario.
  3. We turned Mead into Boston Smith (who is awesome), so the trade will still live on even after Davitt’s eventual DFA. Speaking of Boston, it’s his promotion that likely pushed them to make this trade.
  4. Flora was highly thought of two years ago people thought he would be a top 5 talent. 100ip 1.05era .083 whip 11/7 k/9 12-0 at ucsb
  5. Can't remember when a series like this had such major implications for a season, granted it's early July and it won't automatically proclaim a divisional winner, but it's important. On paper, Sox appear to have some favorable pitching match-up's. We'll see what happens: https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/guardians-vs-white-sox-second-series-2026-preview
  6. Define your definition of "very good" please. They are five games over .500, certainly remarkable given the past three seasons but "very good?" I suggest we wait and see on that moniker. Playing in the worst division in baseball also isn't hurting their cause. It's not like they are going to win 90+ games. I've seen a lot of "very good" Sox teams in my time 59, 63, 64, 65, 72, 77, 83, 90, 93, 00, 05, 08, 21. This one hasn't met that standard yet.
  7. Interesting, let's see how the numbers keep stacking up.
  8. Sox Machine with a detailed look at possible starting pitching trade help for the Sox: Building out a White Sox starting pitcher trade market -...Before the White Sox coming to town, Baltimore president of baseball operations Mike Elias said the Orioles would be buyers if the trade deadline were one week away, rather than one month away. “I kno
  9. Relievers who can't find the strike zone don't have a high price tag. It also leaves Duncan Davitt as the last piece of the Houser trade.
  10. I doubt it'll ever be culturally relevant enough to fully take-off. With my family in Colombia, at every gathering people are kicking around a soccer ball and the kids pretend they are playing for Real Madrid. Here, people toss a football around or pretend they are hitting a buzzer beater for the Bulls in the driveway. That says it all to me.
  11. This. Dude could be a perirenal all star. I think what we aren't seeing is superstar ceiling. There is a difference.

  13. I’ve seen Roch compared to Tulowitzki and Correa. If that’s what he ends up being, that’s a damn good player.
  14. i have seen the phrase "all-star" thrown out in a ton of ceiling projections for Emerson. Almost nobody uses that term for Roch, and this is your one shot to get a generational player...so I am going with the highest upside talent over a surefire starter (since we already have a staked infield currently). But honestly happy with either of them and even Lackey to a degree.
  15. Those who get the Athletic will find this interesting. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7410468/2026/07/01/mlb-baseball-changes-drag-manufacturing-mistake/?source=athletic_pulsenewsletter&campaign=18731167&userId=602876 The story says baseballs are flying out at a higher rate since 2019. MLB and Rawlings also said an issue with dye for the seams has caused some balls to look 'yellowish.' Players and coaches are saying this could have had an impact on the balls which would explain the rise in home runs.
  16. It's probably been said before but with all the Sox's outstanding left-handed bats, I would prefer Cholowsky over Emerson.
  17. Yes, but they need pitching now and no guarantee that Smith, mcdougal or Adam's numbers will be like Gray is currently putting up. Plus you can slide the others into the pen to strengthen that. You can still add in off-season but you dont know when that will be and how much of a 2027 season there will be either. Sox are good now and need to take advantage of that plus with the American league not being very good either. Not saying going nuts this deadline but you have to give them help and with ones who have experience.
  18. Roch is the man.
  19. Nope. Let that be figured out down the line. Draft the best player and if everything collides, we worry about it down the road. Get the most possible talent at the most skilled positions into the system, and then let it ride.
  20. The Padres made the playoffs in 4 of 6 years. Yeah, I would take that.
  21. If you take Emerson or Cholowsky where are they going to play. If its ss then where is Colson moving to. Can either of them play another position? What does the infield look like for the Sox heading in to the next 3-4 years. Seems like all their talent down on the farm are infielders. Remember there is also Carlson at ss. I think both Getz and Venable are big on having athletic versatile players on the roster and i agree with that philosophy. Im not going to be upset with any one of Emerson, Cholowsky, or Lackey.
  22. I have yet to see anyone say they took their kids out of soccer because of CTE. I know plenty who wouldn't let their kids play football because of it.
  23. Looking at the compelling reasons here: -Get the best player -Get the highest ceiling -Get the highest floor -Save some money to add another high ceiling HS player (or two) down the line in rounds 3/4, or maybe even at the end of the draft. With the lack of separation in the bunch, I would lean toward Roch, as it sounds like he is a slam dunk for being at least an average starting SS in MLB, even if he "misses". Emerson screams a floor of being a complete wash out if his hit tool doesn't pan out. With Vahn, the worry with catchers is always health and development time. I get the case for each of the three, but unless the signing dollars are different enough to force down something like a 2nd round pick into the 3rd or 4th round as an extra high signing, I think I am completely unscientifically going Roch.
  24. I was thinking the same thing. I thought one of the improvements here was the Sox weren't leaking like a civ anymore. If bloggers are getting our playbook, that really isn't true.
  25. Im in Texas, so obviously football reigns supreme where I am.
  26. The majority of the same kids are there every season, along with some new ones. Its little league so its boundary based and the growth of the league has more to do with who lives in the area more than anything.
