Heyman says that Cardinals and Mets are also interested in Griffin Canning. Paywall. No link. New York Post. I'd imagine the Sox would look elsewhere. They don't seem to like to be in a crowd when they're pursuing a player.
-
And we know those things for other teams too.
-
Or don't understand the revenue's of a team is a direct result of the investment made into the team, just like any other business.
-
Because I do know the value of their regional TV deal and I can see their attendance figures and average ticket prices. I also know they have made a fuckton through Japan. The Forbes estimates seem to back all this up (beyond not accounting for Ohtani benefit).
-
Or some just dont understand or purposely ignore the reality of the revenues of the teams.
-
In a world where Tucker gets $57 mil per year and Bichette is getting $40 is Robert even overpaid? $20 mil for a good defensive cf who might hit 20 dongs in 100 games is not bad. I’d rather keep him than watch Ryan Clifford in the of. But that’s me. I am on a quest to not lose 100 games again.
-
Then how the hell are you boldly proclaiming that the Dodgers are ahead of everyone?
-
I don’t have access their financials…not sure how you do either.
-
Again, two things can’t both be a problem. Got to stick to one thing and blame that at all costs…it’s the American way!

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
Chicago White Sox replied to Snopek's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Don’t get too excited! The only reason Meidroth is not in the OD lineup is because I expect him to be injured. He’ll be right back at 2B and lead off when healthy! -
allows cheap owners to stay cheap owners

This one is going mostly off of what others in the know have said, nothing I’ve heard personally

That era has been dead. -
I am certain there are some shareholder owners that invest to lose money and win, but I'm guessing the majority are in it to make a profit. Same as every other business owner.

Bears gotta double team Puka on every snap right? Carolina did't do that and they got burned. Davante Adams is a shell of his former self. He is still dangerous in the red zone though. Bears got a chance to win this game if they shut down Puka and contain the Rams running game.

Sox fans have major PTSD. Instead of being mad at our lazy owner for shutting the door on tons of different ways to try to win, we are pissed at the teams who are trying to win in every way possible. It's wild.

Time for the era of the Dominicans baby

The Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field would like a word with you

Yeah, they count wins and losses differently. A city of drunken bro-dudes being able to walk around a street for an eveniong with throw-up on their shirts, high-fiving all the other drunks is just a by-product of the real game.

2026 International signings thread

A few minutes of Fegan and Keller. A little chat on the new DR complex being a selling point going forward and expanding scouting efforts in Mexico. You do get the impression they've invested more in their international resources when Keller's citing bat speed numbers of a Dominican teenager lol Keller sounds really high on Valdez, 6'4"/200 with 109+ exit velos already and he says he's hit a HR at every in person look. -
Agreed. And people forget the Dodgers were almost destroyed by Frank McCourt's ownership. Smart, savvy ownership along with a good front office and organization goes a long way towards leveling out the playing field and so many of these teams don't have that nor do they seem willing to invest in it. But they'll complain about inequalities. Sorry that doesn't move me at all. If you can't compete or choose not to, simple solution, get out, sell and let someone else try.

The big problem with a cap is that MLB isn't like the other sport in that they have an anti-trust exemption, and the lions share of money comes from local deals, and national ones. You can't build a model that works the same way, because the revenues aren't the same way, The problem isn't that the Dodgers are spending, its that so many teams who can, are not.
