Are the Red Sox cheating?
The 2011, 2012, and 2013 Astros lost 324 games. The 2014 team wasn't great but markedly improved. The 2015 team made it to the LDS and lost. The 2012, 2013 and 2014 Cubs lost 286 games then made it to and lost the LCS the next year. The 2017, 2018 and 2019 White Sox lost 284 games then made it to the Wild Card the next year and lost. I don't think the 2026 White Sox are an outlier at all, given the statistical proof above and that year, rebuilds when done right are proven to lead to successful seasons. And that's cherry picked examples in this century alone. I know you're finding it ridiculous that we are all pondering this possibility, but this ain't the gotcha you think it is.

Are the Red Sox cheating?
The Orioles did this just a few years ago. They lost 333 games the 3 (full) seasons before jumping to basically the same pace we’re at right now.

All of them that were in first place.

Are the Red Sox cheating?
How many 84 win teams have made the playoffs?

Are the Red Sox cheating?
How big of an outlier is a team that has lost 324 games in the last 3 years being in a playoff position?

Are the Red Sox cheating?
The Red Sox are on the biggest hot streak in their 130 year history, on a team thats a solid club but certianly not world beaters. It's a massive outlier. I don't know if they're cheating but its extremely curious.

Can't get anything past you Ron

Are the Red Sox cheating?
That is literally the point. Both teams are playing at levels WAAAAY outside of their historic recent norms. We are questioning one of them as cheaters, but not the other.

Are the Red Sox cheating?
I get it. This is a reference to Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting.

No. Once you get so far into the season, the current season record takes over priority.- Chase Meidroth
I think something could be going on with Peters off the field. Since the all star break he has done a complete 180 on the field. I remember reading that his wife went to the emergency room during the all star festivities. Maybe she has some health issues that are weighing on him. I don't know I'm just guessing but the change in him has been baffling.- Andrew Knizer
I would too. Sox apparently don’t agree.- Chase Meidroth
Hate? Who hates him?- Romo
Pretty much a full time DH now, though? Obviously thought their playoff odds/revenue share chances were better. We shall see. Definitely a better pitching staff over there...White Sox are duct taped and barely held together by baling wire.- Are the Red Sox cheating?
You think a playoff pace is in character for a team that has averaged 108 losses a season for the last 3 years?- Chase Meidroth
A good problem to have but there is an infield crunch that needs to be resolved in the not too distant future. I love the guy, but would not be surprised if Colson is the odd man out. A combination of options at SS and his value on the trade market, plus variance in his performance, make him the most likely to be dealt of guys on the current ML roster. Chase is a steady presence. Love both guys!- Chase Meidroth
I don’t comprehend how anyone could hate on this kid.- Chase Meidroth
It goes with the territory. Now everyone is hating on Peters Braden any catchers Mune Colson Vargas...even Antonacci's defense and hitting against LP. Davis Martin and pretty much any non Burke starting pitcher...maybe a bit of appreciation for Kay. Will probably change yet again in 2-3 weeks, right?- Chase Meidroth
It’s been sad to see him become a black hole at the plate. The adjustments made to pitchers approach while facing Peters have been overwhelming for him. Him getting back on track or Doyle unlocking untapped potential at the dish are story lines that are extremely important for our success down the stretch.- 8/7 Games
I hope Sandlin pitches well tonight. A solid innings 5 through 8 would be great. Thanks in advance.- 2027 - MLB Draft Thread
Are those wood bats?- Andrew Knizer
I'd give Lee another look. - Are the Red Sox cheating?
