  1. Past hour

  2. Unless I rope off the greatest win streak of all time, do not be deterred. Be resilient like this team.
  3. I am passively following the Bears, I guess baseball really is my #1 sport. Glad it is back. Great news on Ozzie.
  4. A certain guy it in 2016 for a local team.
  5. I like the limited number of challenges in principle. That said, I hate that when an ump is really bad, it still has a significant impact on the game. So my solution is that at the end of each inning, based on the ABS-based grading system for the previous inning, they announce whether each team gets an additional challenge. For example, if the ump blows 3 calls in a particular inning (that go unchallenged), each team gets an additional challenge that they can use starting in the next inning. That way we can get more calls right, and we can publicly shame the shitty umps.
  6. I am fine with a ghost runner, but start the runner on first. Starting a RISP tilts the deck too far in favor of the offense. Having a runner on first can fulfill the MLBPA/MLBs wishes to shorten extra inning games and increase "excitement" while not fostering a situation that is unduly inequitable to the pitching/defense.
  7. Sometimes teams will win a bullpen game against another team‘s ace.
  8. Baseball is so unpredictable. The White Sox almost won that game last night with four hits. It would be like a football team winning a game with only four first downs.
  9. Who was that kid that lived in Charlotte and would hang around the park watching for players getting called up. We need to put him on the case lol
  10. No matter which team won that game last night, to me, it was an example of how great baseball is. Now that the Cubs and Sox are both good at the same time, it takes the crosstown series to another level. Any baseball fan who watched that game had to be enthralled. Who knows, maybe these teams will meet in the World Series, and that would be one for the ages.
  11. Thanks for kicking it off, I suppose my hot hand had to stop at some point, but I'm never making a gamethread again after last night's debacle!
  12. I don’t mean me and you need to know, but that the Sox need to now so they can ensure the player is actually in Chicago for the time of the game.
  13. Sox have one of the better DH "situations" in the league right now, I think that's fair to say, both guys seem super comfortable in their role plus Grichuk does offer some defensive value as well
  14. I think most of us agree with this
  15. I would like to see 2 changes to the game. ABS is used on every pitch for balls and strikes. The 26-man roster is expanded to 28 and the ghost runner is no longer used for extra innings.
  16. Today

  17. I so want to batter around Gausman for having our Sox on his no trade list but not the Cubbies.......screw you Kev!!!!!
  18. Benintendi is up to .250 and he is now at 62 RBI this year. But with the L/R swaps he as over 100 less plate appearances but has less than 10 RBI than Vargas the leader. Maybe give him some Lefty spots as well to see how he does against some the left side.
  19. He will be in the starting line up the next two games with a Cub RHP. Venable will have a Grich bullet at the ready if a LHP comes in.
  20. Meh, we don’t really need to know. They know who it’s gonna be and I bet they person will be with the team by end of day, without announcement until his start is announced
  21. Here is the current OPS vs LHP for the 5 outfield options if Grichuk is at DH: .595 (SA), .621 (BD), .524 (BM), .497 (LA), .383 (TP) This is a giant reason for their struggles in the second half against LHP
  22. Or Rogers challenges the one that was clearly a strike. Instead he challenges a borderline pitch, loses and can't challenge the other one that would have been strike 3. Also, Sam needs to stop wasting challenges early in the game.
  23. You can say that about just about every game for any team really. But can't count on the ump. Error lead to an unearned run.
  24. That may be the plan. Or have whoever travel just in case. Not like they can't fly back to re-join Charlotte and pitch the next game there.
  25. Should have been a win if the umpire could just call balls and strikes properly.
  26. Should have been a 5-4 win if Vargas eats it at 3B instead of throwing the ball into RF
