  2. Feels like the kind of guy who would we be in the usually Sox shopping bin. Also, he was already offered the QO prior so he can't be offered one.
  3. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/never-say-no-to-big-woo-could-brandon-woodruff-pitch-in-world-series/ar-AA2ebJrp?ocid=BingNewsSerp Looks like Woodruff is close enough to be under consideration for potential WS duty. Probably much more willing to sign a 1-2 option year "make good" deal. All depends on the medicals.
  4. And yes attendance was up significantly, but don't forget that #1, the Sox had nine figures of debt to pay off, and we have no idea what that structure or time period looked like, and what the downhill effects on operations will be. #2, we have no idea what the new Sox TV deal looks like, but by all predictions, it is a fraction of the old deal.
  5. I think I said $125-135 million... The one thing we still don't know is what decision will be made on MuraKami (keep, trade or extend). It would still be a shocker to see them giving $80-120 million to King Rogers Gray or Peralta with all the big market teams all looking for starting pitching. The Cubs alone are trying to fill at least three spots, if not four, depending on the prognosis for Steele and Horton.
  6. Would Brandon Woodruff make sense on a short “prove it” deal? He hasnt pitched much over the last 3 years due to injuries and i doubt the Brewers make a QO because of it. I am not saying hes THE target, but worth the gamble as a second target. His profile looks solid for our park when hes on, career 41.4 GB%
  7. Yeah I get that people want to be hopeful but I'm going to assume they are going to continue operating the way they have under Jerry. Ishbia doesn't own the team yet and I doubt he's fronting much money until he does. His focus now is on the new stadium.
  8. Because the White Sox did not act like a team with a lot of money to spend at the deadline. They traded an additional prospect and contract to save money instead of taking on an entire deal.
  9. Why not? Agai, you assume they are going to rock a $120M payroll next year.
  10. I was surprised that the Democrat party backed Lee when she ran for office. Her father was part of the Daley organization and wound up going to jail over corruption.
  11. It is really sad how the organization has fallen off the map and is once again is a non-entity in the city.
  12. Another name to look at post Mets trade is David Peterson. Had an ERA of 6 and then a was good SP for Cubs. Having any semblance of a defense helps a lot. Edit: might actually be a lowkey good name to look at
  13. While Peralta will always have the 4.99 ERA stain on his resume from his 22-start Mets tenure, he is already doing a lot of good with the Rays to diminish the impact of his Mets stint on his free agency. Will Peralta land a nine-figure contract like he might've been seeking this offseason? Probably not, at least not without signing a very long-term deal that has a much lower AAV than pitchers normally would get. But a strong postseason for Peralta with the Rays, especially if he helps them win the World Series, could have the Tampa Bay starter landing a much more respectable deal this offseason. si.com 3.25 era with MIL and two solid postseason starts to boot

  15. Getz was Director of Player Development starting in 2017. But he's in a new position now. The longer you follow the team the less optimistic you become. So just ignore all this. Getz probably wasn't to blame back then.
  16. I'd add Freddy Peralta back to the list of guys I would want. File his first half struggles to "General Mets Usual Shittiness"
  17. 33% K rate for the Mariners AA team and in the AFL. Not too upset about losing him but the Castillo acquisition was a disaster. Wonder if a better player could have been acquired for Smith. I guess we'll never know.
  18. The 2006 team had all the pieces. I think the pitchers just ran out of gas. But that offense was a top 3 offense in franchise history. 90 win team.
  19. It's a fair point. The chairman for the last ~45 years is still the chairman. So from that perspective, the leadership is the same. However, the current baseball decision makers were not responsible for rushing the players you mentioned. We will see is that is a trend that continues, but so far I have not seen it with the current front office.
  20. It's a close cousin to back up quarterback syndrome.
  21. There is a pattern through their history. You can choose to believe events like 2005 or the "multiple championship window" means the franchise is somehow newly created. It's honestly a happier way to look. I'm certain this time they hired people that will be much better at it. Just like every other time.
  22. I don't think they rushed Braden. I think Braden came up when he was ready but now has to make adjustments at the MLB level......it's ok to do that. Not everyone comes up and rakes, it's all a process.
  23. It's been the same institutional mess for 50+ years. After decades of watching front offices, coaches, and players come and go some fans don't believe things change with a new set of names.
  24. His K rate for his entire time in the minors was right around 25%. He never K'd as much as Bonemer has in his time in the minors.
  25. Most prospects have some glaring flaw that can be compared to another failed player (Colson isn't a failed player....yet). Easy to say "well this guy does the same bad thing as this other guy". But, it's hard not to be excited about Bonemer. I'm curious what the underlying reason for his K rate can be attributed to. Some guys just swing for the fences and sacrifice contact for power. Some guys (Colson) seem to have no plan of attack. Hoping Bonemer is the former. With Colson, it feels like he only has one swing and he also has no idea how pitchers are attacking him. He's clueless and has no ability to shorten his swing. Terrible combo. Bonemer might just be a fucking homer hound, he knows chicks dig the long ball and he wants more long balls.
