Rumor: White Sox in potential discussion(s) with Red Sox....
Jake replied to DFAthewave69420's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Abreu and Rafaela are both very good. Rafaela is really not Getz's "type"; takes horrifically bad at bats. Abreu is the more likely target, I think. I don't know what the Sox could give them that would make sense for both sides. Hard for me to imagine Getz giving up something really valuable for a guy who already has 2 years of service time. -
Quero hit 17 HR in 111 games as a 19 year old and 16 HR (mostly in Birmingham) in 98 games as a 21 year old. I suspect his power outage has a strong mental component, letting the ball get very deep and taking a contact-oriented pass at it because that was the most comfortable way for him to deal with the very talented pitching he faced. But sometimes it can be as simple as giving yourself permission to start attacking the ball out front. I have a little bit of optimism for Quero just because he's flashed that power before and frankly he doesn't need to do a lot more to be a super useful player.

Kristian Campbell, Ceddanne Rafaela, Jarren Duran are three guys I like that could potentially be available to varying extents. Big no on Hicks and Sandoval. Big yes on Bello but I doubt they're dealing him. -
He has to stay healthy and get an innings base.

Wouldn't make any sense to give up talent for Hicks. Same with Sandoval. And Bello is too good to make sense...you wouldn't want to give up the talent that he should cost, given that it's asinine to acquire a veteran MLB pitcher on a long-term deal when you're far from contention. Bello trade is the kind of thing you'd do in a year or two when your strengths and weaknesses are clear and you're willing to gamble a little bit to shore up the rotation. - Today

Yeah worry about him not being the consensus #1 overall pick when it happens

Yep. It’s a fantastic discussion. Keep at it, fellas. I’ll just sit back and sip my beer.

Is “The 78” Dead? Or even more alive? Fire announce plans for SSS

I hope this was a joke... -
https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/tickets/promotions Sox doing an awesome job with this per usual. Lots of bobbleheads this year. The other highlights include 90s city connect starter jacket, 250th American bday shirt and backyard baseball bobbleheaf. Also an alumni home run derby announced. Sounds interesting.

Gained muscle mass, DRINK!

Honestly I thought it was a quality discussion on current vs future weightings.

ESPN Twins 8, Sox 20. MLB Twins 2, Sox 17 FG Twins 12, Sox 22 Prospects 1500 Twins 9, Sox 14 BA hasn't released yet

It’s actually the opposite. The new Pohlad owner wants to win without spending anymore money and the baseball people know it isn’t possible. Falvey got out before he could ultimately get fired.

Good article here, the part about teams inquiring on Vargas is interesting.

I'm taking the 45/60 guy over the 25/65 guy every single time. The entire point of Roch being a "quasi generation" type college prospect is that guys his athletic almost never get to college as SS. I really am having a hard time understanding (at this moment) trying to downplay his talent. Now if he lays a damn egg to start the college year sure, but I'll worry about that if it happens.

Getz has talked about not getting "too cute" with the first pick including drafting for positional need (and also noted being able to move shortstops around as needed). Pretty confident they will just take their BPA.
-
I still think Schultz is the best player in the system but he really needs a bounce back.

For whoever was asking about promo schedule earlier https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/tickets/promotions

I like him more than Cholowsky personally but I know that's a small group of us. Elite speed. Power potential is crazy too.

Always worth a shot to increase power.

Him and Caleb have that in common then 😂

100%, and sometimes the gain exceeds the loss. It's not a guarantee though. Making big changes to what got you there is always a risk. People are hyper critical of guys who are hesitant to change, but it makes sense why guys are. It's almost like admitting what youve done your entire life isnt good enough. Unless of course you've always been a tinkerer - i was known (mocked) in college for having 90 different batting stances in 4 years. Change is foreign, scary and unknown but also exciting. Hope this one works for Quero positively. Glad he's trying to check every box to be the best player he can be.

Reports I've read have Emerson more advanced than Cholowsky was at that age. He is a possibility.
