  1. Past hour

  2. I dread all this karp when there are labor issues and every one has expert insight.
  3. The first half of that money is gone before he ever saw it between taxes and agents.
  4. Man, that is sad. I hate to see it.
  5. Again, last time we saw this kind of set up with lockout looming over a looooooong expected lock out, teams largely sat the market out to wait for prices to be artificially forced down after the lockout changes.
  6. Hence, "hopefully". Both sides are concerned about themselves first, especially the owners. They won't care about the fans until they start losing more money than they're comfortable with losing in a labor dispute.

If they don't that in my opinion would be a slap in the face to the fan base but again remember JR still runs things and with labor uncertainty he's not about to take any real risks until he knows the new situation. At least that's what history says. Maybe he'll surprise us?
  8. As Ken Rosenthal has written (I think I've seen others as well) the unnamed reason for the labor situation is the owners are upset the value of their franchises hasn't increased to the range of NFL and NBA franchises. They feel a salary cap and cost certainty will dramatically increase the value of their teams. It has very little to do with the competition aspect of the sport.
  9. Today

  10. Buzelis is just so robotic on the court despite his athleticism.
  11. Never liked Giddey anyways. Never thought he was a part of this teams future in anyway which showed how incompetent AK/ME was. There's a reason why OKC gave him up then went on to win a championship. Buzelis on the other hand I'm disappointed by so far because he has shown he can be a good role player. Its early but right now he's not looking like a good secondary piece to build around.
  12. Not sure if he was messing around, but reports of him being mentally ill have been around for a long time
  13. Giddey and Buzelis look awful. Whenever I flip to a game, Buzelis seems to turn the ball over.
  14. If he managed to burn through $82 million dollars, he deserves to be homeless. Pretty sure he was just messing around though if you watch until the end of the video.
  15. yeah I got baited by a fake account, rip
  16. That's the frustrating thing. Once the big network deals start losing games is the first time things will get serious. Asset valuations continue to grow so I am not certain why the owners want to adjust the system. Winning and losing means nothing to the asset valuation.
  17. April 15th and a 154 game schedule,

Have seen nothing by the big time reporters that suggest Sox are going to be active in free agency
  19. If history is any indication nothing will even begin until after the new year and possibly not before 'normal' spring training would have opened.
  20. I don't see how the owners and players would allow the entire season to be lost. I mean, I see how it could happen, but I don't think either side wants that...at all. They really don't want to alienate fans, and that will be the biggest cost. Hockey lost a season to a labor dispute and had to make a bunch of changes to the game to get fans back. Based on what I've seen about how far apart the two sides are, it's hard to imagine some of the season not being lost. Hopefully they start having conversations soon and begin working on compromises. I don't see a salary cap/floor happening, and that might be the biggest roadblock.
  21. https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/im-broke-im-homeless-im-113800134.html Really sad stuff about Ben Gordon
  22. Too bad it wasn't billions, he might have won a political race or two.
  23. Billionaires typically don't become billionaires by driving the prices of their assets to zero.
  24. Reinsdorf must have said "Curt Schilling has integrity". That must sting to a man vying to steal millions from multiple states.
