I don't believe any of this is about competition. It's all about making the game more marketable. Pitch clocks and all were about speeding it up to make it more consumable. And reining in the Dodgers is about making the postseason seem more attainable to more teams, thus increasing fan interest. The Dodgers could win the next 20 World Series and they wouldn't care. They just want to be able to walk around their own ballparks safely without being booed.

Yea, it’s very very unlikely and is the right play… but it sure is fun to dream on landing an ace with control or the best closer in the game until 2030.

I actually agree with this, there should be limits on how long you can defer a contract down the line. I'm guessing this could be a point both sides could compromise on in negotiations. This seems reasonable to me.

Yea, verbose outputs can be cumbersome to read - I generally parse through them and often times there is something insightful. I thought its analysis of Castillo relating to Banny was interesting.

It may have been pointed out already but after Seattle stopped piggybacking Castillo in late May, his numbers in June were stellar- including starts against Cleveland and Detroit. In July he pitched to a quality start average, if you take out the start where he was shelled by the Dodgers. I remain hopeful the Sox can make some tweaks and we have a win on our hands.
