  1. Past hour

  2. I have more faith in Acuna at the plate with RISP than Colson right now. He is making contact, giving him a chance. Sammy will get in there when Sox knock out their lefty starter.
  3. Feels like I would find their music on R/crappymusic
  4. His mom is probably running him around for a bunch of casting calls, today. I'm catching Haley Joel Osment energy.
  5. My worry with Robbie is all those fly balls in our park vs San fran.
  6. Getz isn't scouting players? He isn't the final decision maker on the roster? Interesting takes. If all Getz does is delegate, what exactly is he adding in his role?
  7. I wonder if that little kid is still crying.
  8. Huh? The director of pitching job is supposed to develop pitchers. You love the term market inefficiency. Not everything you do is about market inefficiency. Most things you do are playing to your strengths, not everyone else's weaknesses.
  9. His peripherals aren't great, but he'd easily be the 3rd best starting pitcher on this team right now.
  10. sure, but the cost isn't worth it, including the opportunity cost. Getting a 1 WAR starter is just doing something to do something. Improving the rotation requires more than that.
  11. Watching the re-play right now. Hicks strikeout of Rice was epic. Saved the game. Do not mess with hicks or Taylor.
  12. Robbie stuff has definitely taken a step back and he's benefiting big time from that ballpark, but he's still better than Sandlin imo.
  13. I almost spit out my coffee
  14. Leave my RubRub alone!!!
  15. Robbie Ray sucks. I'd rather just bring up Sandlin or something.
  16. I was watching the Dodgers last night and they kept saying how that was his last start most likely. I immediately got nervous it meant the Sox would go after him.
  17. And no, Bannister's job is not to develop arms. He's director of pitching. Setting the team philosophy of what type of pitchers to pursue based on what the team wants to invest, or what statistical traits to look for to find "market inefficiencies" that they can easily work with. You seem to be leaning into this "blame" framing. I'd expect that sort of argument from that crying child from yesterday's game, but only when he's really tired and hungry.
  18. Venable sometimes goes overboard on lefty- righty matchups. Sometimes you have to go with the hot hand.
  19. I’m not arguing your point, but I think it can be assumed that Bannister talks to Getz and makes suggestions on pitchers that he would like to work with or that he thinks he can makes some tweaks to improve their game, if they were acquired.
  20. No, Getz's job is to manage the interaction between scouting and development. It's shorthand to say that "Banny's got a type". Sorry if that confuses you. I would imagine scouting and "Banny" are on the same page in that the scouts already know what our developmental strengths and preferences are, and they're making sure dudes look healthy and as advertised. There are entire departments that run numbers on everyone in the league, and asst-GMs who get all the trade talk started. Getz delegates. That's how he ends up announcing that Acuña's a switch hitter. Seriously, if you think that Chris Getz is sitting in the stands of a game in Rancho Cucamonga with a radar gun, you're not even clearing the low bar you've established for your posts.
  21. Today

  22. Who gives a s%*# who gets the "credit". From what we've been told or has leaked Getz's biggest strength is not worrying about credit and simply letting his folks get the job done to the best of their abilities. If Bannister isn't getting it down, he'll be replaced sooner or later. For now it's a moot point. He's not getting let go during the home stretch here and he will have input.
  23. Of course. RubRub is so bored of his own shtick, he's not even really trying, anymore. I'd be fine if he gets clever and Urquidy becomes ace of the staff. Just win, baby.
  24. I've said this before, but Bannisters job is to develop arms. Getz job is to identify talent that aligns with Bannister's strengths, not to have Bannister tell him who to acquire. Bannister isn't in the talent identification game, he's in the talent development game. Those two things are different skills IMO. Let's properly distribute credit and blame where it aligns.
