  2. They also don't have to pay him any signing bonuses he's owed. The Titans take that cap hit the next 2 years. He's also not owed any guaranteed money after 2028.
  3. "Lee is determined to convince Reinsdorf to stay in Bridgeport at a new stadium on the site of Rate Field." Chicago Sun-TimesAld. Nicole Lee wants full-fledged environmental review o...Earlier this week, the Federal Railroad Administration responded to a political firestorm of protests against Amtrak's plans for a maintenance facility in Bridgeport by promising a federal environment
  4. It has nothing to do with the Cubs. This is how teams make a shitload of money off the books now. Ballpark villages are a boon for revenue.
  5. Yea, a lot of the previous times we all complain “not the right time AND you overpaid” but right now it’s go time. The league has realized Caleb is special and the bears have realized that they have to maximize the time that they have before his contract becomes a reality.
  6. Most not all Sox fans don't come to throw a party. They come for the game. Cubs don't influence my activities.
  7. Interesting to see Ald. Lee confirming in print what's long been the position of the Bridgeport neighbors: In addition to not wanting the Amtrak facility, they also don't want a major "ballpark village" development. So even if Reinsdorf had wanted to develop the parking lots (or Ishbia tries to pivot to that plan in the future), there would be resistance.
  8. Bunch of stuff going down, Ian Happ just signed for 2/30 with the Blue Jays , Clay Holmes opted out of his player option
  9. Came from the world champs? Sold.
  10. Yeah. We are going to start being poached from in the same way that the brewers and rays have. It's unfortunate but it's a sign we are doing something right.
  11. It's a big gig for him. This is an excellent hire. And the complete opposite of what the Hahn regime would have done
  12. Today

  13. Personally I watched maybe 5-6 innings across a couple games, didn't watch last night had Bulls on. Baseball is just a very regional sport and my fandom certainly isn't high enough after 170 or so Sox games to tune in nightly in late October. That said, happy for the Brewers, they have a class org and it's nice to see Yelich get a ring.
  14. It reads as Hintz making that part up to add stakes. The politicians against this know they can’t make get their way if this blows up into a legal issue. Mike Quigley even said as much when speaking to residents with Lee, Mendoza, Pappas, and others, something along the lines of, “We will not win this if it goes to the courts,” which is a telling statement. Lawyering up would waste a lot of money and only serve to prolong death.
  15. Again, the owner WANT TO GIVE IT TO THEM. There isn't a real fight here.
  16. GarPax and Hahn both had the same PR mumbo jumbo of "flexibility". As if "flexibility" has ever won a single championship, or for that matter, a lack of it preventing a roster shuffle. There's almost no contract that can't be traded with the right incentives, JR teams just rarely utilize those.
  17. Yeah, I don't get that last line from the article. "Lawyer up" against what? Against the Constitution's Interstate Commerce Clause and a railroad's ability to build on land that has been railroad property for over a century? There isn't even any eminent domain arguments here. This will all be on what is now Union Pacific property.
  18. This could essentially be 2 2nd round picks if the Bears do what they can do the next two years before Caleb's hit goes close to 9 figures.
  19. Good add on paper. Guess we'll see what he can do.
  20. The only people who will win if this end up in court are the railroads and the lawyers. Anyone else is pissing away their money.
  21. Played a good team close. Can’t fault that.
