Right 2017-19 2024-26 Original Machado deal was $300 million for ten years. That was fine...$240 million for over 30.2 fWAR, which is $8 million per 1 fWAR. It was the extension/ripped up contract in 2023 that was very bad. Still got credibility of a future HoFer, making it easier to bring in more talent. Sellouts, Top 3 attendance. 5/7 playoffs. Doubled franchise value to $3.9 billion. Actually Tatis Jr. has been the only strong high extracted value deal. First Machado deal was fine. Jackson Merrill jury still out. Bogaerts and Cronenworth simply terrible. Darvish Musgrove disasters for a number of reasons...although insurance paying some of that back, Yu agreed to defer some as well in lieu of outright retirement. Michael King has been fine...Pivetta very good last year but hurt this season.

Ilitch's son has been much more careful since assuming control, but they're usually in the $135/150 million range in recent years. The White Sox ramped up 2020-23, but two of those years were pretty much busts, especially 2023. From 2006-2019, surely Detroit had the higher average comparing the two. Detroit attendance has also been significantly higher since Comerica as well. Neither team runs a higher payroll every single year, as both franchises go through distinct cycles of spending and rebuilding. Historically, the Detroit Tigers have reached significantly higher spending peaks—most notably during the late Mike Ilitch era—while the Chicago White Sox traditionally maintained a more stable mid-market payroll before entering an aggressive cost-cutting phase.

Hahahaha! Green Line, sometimes if I'm watching on CHSN, I'll mute the volume completely and just watch in silence, as the commentary and side-stories can get to be a little much at times. Once in a while the games will be broadcast on the local AM sports radio station, and I'll opt to just catch a game that way, like I used to do with my transistor radio in the old days, and just leave the TV off. Both options seem less stressful.

The public meeting got a lot of coverage in the local news, but I don't see how that changes Amtrak's ability to move forward on this project. It's all on railroad property, impacts will be less than when it operated as a freight yard, and they don't need city approval. I know the loudest opponents get the most attention, but I bet more people in Chicago than not are in favor of improved Amtrak service thanks to a huge federal grant, a privately-financed new Sox ballpark, and a new Northwestern Medical campus.

Sam took a gamble - he wanted to get a jump on what he thought would be a ball hit in the gap. Rocchio saw where he was playing and dumped a fly ball toward the line. I like Sam from the moment I saw him play in the WBC, but he needs to be reigned in a bit with certain overly-aggressive or foolish moves - like throwing his elbow out at players on the bases. He reminds me a bit of how Pete Rose played, all-out all the time.

I wish I could watch these games on tv but for the last couple weeks ive found it spiking my blood pressure to watch the boys. Any tips on enjoying these games? Its just a sport I know
