  2. Benintendi is up to .250 and he is now at 62 RBI this year. But with the L/R swaps he as over 100 less plate appearances but has less than 10 RBI than Vargas the leader. Maybe give him some Lefty spots as well to see how he does against some the left side.
  3. He will be in the starting line up the next two games with a Cub RHP. Venable will have a Grich bullet at the ready if a LHP comes in.
  4. Meh, we don’t really need to know. They know who it’s gonna be and I bet they person will be with the team by end of day, without announcement until his start is announced
  5. Here is the current OPS vs LHP for the 5 outfield options if Grichuk is at DH: .595 (SA), .621 (BD), .524 (BM), .497 (LA), .383 (TP) This is a giant reason for their struggles in the second half against LHP
  6. Or Rogers challenges the one that was clearly a strike. Instead he challenges a borderline pitch, loses and can't challenge the other one that would have been strike 3. Also, Sam needs to stop wasting challenges early in the game.
  7. You can say that about just about every game for any team really. But can't count on the ump. Error lead to an unearned run.
  8. That may be the plan. Or have whoever travel just in case. Not like they can't fly back to re-join Charlotte and pitch the next game there.
  9. Should have been a win if the umpire could just call balls and strikes properly.
  10. Should have been a 5-4 win if Vargas eats it at 3B instead of throwing the ball into RF
  11. It's honestly kind of encouraging that: 1) The Sox were not good at the plate. 2) Their defense was putrid. 3) They got screwed by the ump. 4) The game was poorly managed. 5) Players continue to suck at challenging. 6) Cubs got a ton of lucky ass hits. And... they still went to extra innings. Go win the next two.
  12. Today

  13. One thing's for sure-- the guys lost that one as a team. And on this glorious brand new day they will WIN as a team! Let's go!
  14. Did Roger’s make any type of statement as to why he failed to challenge. Does he get a free pass?
  15. The problem is tomorrow is a day game, so we kind of need to know if we’ll need one of the Charlotte guys for tomorrow so you can ensure they can get here in time. I think if you plan to use both Fedde & Urquidy, then you have no choice to bring up Thorpe (or Shane) for tomorrow’s game.
  16. If I am managing today I use Hudson to open the game for an inning. Then it's a combination of Fedde/Urquidy to cover the next 6-7 innings depending on the score. If we are winning then Taylor gets the 9th. you have to save your pen and the rest of the guys. Then we figure out tomorrow when tomorrow comes
  17. The bullpen has been nails but they need a breather.
  18. Pablo Torre EXPOSES Kushner Lakers Purchase Story I haven't followed this story, but Pablo Torre really breaks it down, very interesting.
  19. Any updates on this front? All I know is the Sox said they would take it day by day earlier on the broadcast last night. I also believe fathom mentioned Hudson would serve as opener today, but haven’t personally seen that reported. Sox ending up using four relievers yesterday including two of their bulk guys in Schweitzer & Richards. That sucks about the latter given they had Castillo on the bump last night and were probably hoping to get a few more innings out of him. A true bullpen game would have been easier with those two available. They still have Fedde & Urquidy to provide multiple innings, but hard to feel confident either of them will go beyond four. I think we’re going to see Hagen sent down and one of the Charlotte SPs called up. Shane is scheduled to pitch tonight for Charlotte & Thorpe is scheduled for tomorrow. I think one of those guys has to get the call. Protecting the bullpen is just as important as winning one of these next two games, so need the extra arm to have more options to absorb innings at minimum.
  20. If Lakers’ sale gets blocked or held up in court, Mark Walter might have to pivot to selling the Dodgers and Chelsea FC… https://www.forbes.com/sites/tylerroush/2026/08/17/why-mark-walter-facing-federal-scrutiny-and-trump-conspiracy-theories-may-have-sold-the-lakers/
  21. SAN DIEGO — San Diego Padres minor-league catching coordinator Oswaldo José Pirela was detained by immigration authorities in El Paso, Texas, and remained in custody, according to family and ICE detainee records. His sister Daniela Pirela said in a phone interview that her brother, who was raised in Venezuela, was detained at El Paso International Airport at around 5 a.m. Sunday while traveling for work, which she said he does weekly for the Padres. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainee records showed Pirela in custody late Monday. In a statement early Tuesday, the Padres said that they'd recently learned of Pirelas' detainment. "We are working to gather additional information and will not have any further comment at this time," the team said. ICE and Major League Baseball did not immediately respond to a request for comment from NBC News.
  22. That may be the worst possible scenario with that unlikable, but loved by Cubby blue, prick walking you off. My condolences to any Sox fan in attendance at the end of that one. I was watching the 9th on gameday and you can't walk guys but damn that home plate ump really changed the game. I would hope MLB looks at that and does not reward that clown with any playoff games. Sox fought back as usual which is great to see. They are just really bad in extra innings. Have to find a way to win one of these next two or im afraid people are going back on the ledge.
  23. Great game, terrible outcome. We've won some like that and lost some like that. Good training for that playoff atmosphere.
  24. Seems like the Sox shot themselves in the foot last night. They needed that one. They ain't winning with Fedde or Urquidy. Hope I'm wrong but I think they get swept.
