After the recent play, is the smart move to sell instead of buy?
Oh geez! We got swept by a pretty hot BoSox and you're ready to sell sell sell! When I saw who The BoSox were throwing at us in the1st 2 games, I knew we were in trouble. Can we at least get Muni back before panicking?

I’d be looking to extend Newcomb rather than trade him.

Unfortunately for your dream, you actually participate in conversation and don’t just do just drive-by s%*# posts like the goob. Despite your PCA man crush you are safe.

You need a stay put option.

There is nobody even worth selling except for Newcomb and potentially Hicks if you can find a sucker to take him. Maybe Grichuk. Everyone else is part of what they are building.

We've all been talking about adding to this team so we can compete. The team started hot and were fun as hell to watch. However, the recent play by the team was a b**** smack back to reality. We've got some nice pieces, but are we ready to compete? I'm not so sure. Is the smart play to sell some players to acquire talent that will help in a year or two? We haven't been great at developing starters. Should we sell our bullpen pieces for more talent? Taylor could potentially fetch a haul. Newcombe has been dy-no-mite. Hudson has been solid. Hicks looks FILTHY and is building his value daily. Do we sell off our bullpen for pieces that will help in the next couple seasons? I'm leaning towards yes.

“The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
Forgot about that thing. It did earn a Wikipedia page though… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_Spire

2026 MLB Catch All (Non Sox, Non AL Central)
Another day, another double and a BB. .930 OPS.

Hard to do that with Bonemer's more limited defensive tools/speed/arm...

And now the Red Sox Twins Tigers in the "don't trade/holding" group with the possible exception of Skubal...if they're blown out of the water with an offer. Marlins are much less likely to move players as well now.

I’m jealous. I’m going to mention PCA even more now to get on your prestigious list.

Agreed. No one expected this so it’s a nice treat but I doubt anyone thinks this team will go deep into the playoffs if they make it. Their rotation is weak but they can’t mortgage the future for a chance to chase an unrealistic WS this year.

Exactly. Without even looking at teams outside of Chicago, we have two teams here that are in the running for the postseason and are absolutely desperate for starting pitching. Starting pitching is going to be expensive as hell this trade deadline.

I think you’re gonna be in for a surprise once Detmers is traded.

Trade Ideas/Rumors/Proposals Thread
Exactly. Hagen Smith is walking 6.23 batters per 9 innings in AAA. Anyone want to see how many batters he would walk in the majors right now? Dude would get his s%*# pushed in. I wouldn’t make that proposed trade but Hagen Smith wouldn’t be an improvement to the rotation this season like Detmers would be. Afterall, we are already seeing the rookie struggles with Noah Schultz

Yes, detmers is much better today than Hagen Smith.

Why are we so quick to sell the farm this season? Why give up a potential 20 HR, perennial gold glove shortstop (#60 prospect in baseball) for a guy with a career 4.7 ERA and 2 years left of control? It's just not good value by any standard. Now this is wild. Two top 100 prospects for a 5th starter/swingman. Why are we so keen on jettisoning talent from the system? The Sox are not one 'meh' pitcher away from being a WS contender. Is Detmers even better, today, than Hagen Smith? It's not like I hate the idea of trading for Detmers, but it takes guys like Jeral Perez and Mathias LaCombe to get it done not our previous two first round picks.

7/9 Games
In Charlotte, it looks like Cannon was okay. 5 innings, 2 runs, 2bb, 4K. McDougal threw a clean inning with a K and Davitt struck out 5 in 3 scoreless innings. So, maybe some reinforcements there.

In game news, Bonemer is 2-3 with a HR. He seems to be adjusting to AA, which doesn’t surprise me. I had him as their top prospect coming into the year and with all the graduations he certainly is. I may have him ahead of Roch/Grady/Lackey when all is said and done.

The Sox would have to go 23-47 to finish the season with 70 wins. That's a 51-win/162 pace. If enough key players got injured and they did about that, how in the world would that be an "embarrassment"?

Getting his teeth kicked in again tonight by the Rangers. But hey strikeouts amirite! I wouldn’t give up anything of substance for him.

It would help if the line up today did not include Junior Pérez hitting fifth, and Acuna and Romo anchoring the bottom of the lineup.
