Fegan Departing Sox Machine
Ahhh, that’s right, it was Jim Margalus! Too many damn J’s. Quite honestly, I thought J. Fox and J. Margulas were WAY better than J. Fegan in that pod. Just my opinion… Thanks for sharing the pod. In any case, it’s still better White Sox talk than you can get anywhere else.

Mat Ishbia’s estimated net worth has fallen by more than $3B since March.
Speaking of financial chicanery...Dodgers' owner and holder of the Lakers for just long enough to make $2.5 billion off the sale Mark Walter in hot water as well https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/article/mark-walter-investigation-explained-the-timing-of-the-lakers-125-billion-sale-cant-be-ignored-014119218.html "At issue are those two insurance companies, Delaware Life and Clear Spring. According to the Los Angeles Times, an internal whistleblower at Guggenheim filed a complaint questioning how Guggenheim booked revenues associated with those insurers. Again, it's not inherently a problem when companies with a shared co-owner make a deal together, but it can be a problem if — and we are using one of the most extreme possible examples here — a company does something like what Enron infamously did and hides its financials woes from investors by unloading debts into seemingly separate entities that were actually controlled by its chief financial officer. In this case, Bloomberg reports Delaware Life told regulators in June 2025 that it had only $1.4 billion in affiliated investments, representing 3% of its portfolio, and it turned out that number was more along the lines of at least $17 billion in loans (39%) that had been passed through a third party." before being received by Walter's other companies.

Fegan Departing Sox Machine
I think it's more an erudite need to craft the perfect, sarcastic sentence. I find both Jim and James a bit forced, but they've provided the most thorough coverage of White Sox baseball, along-side James and Ian of FutureSox. There was a time 40 years ago I'd look up the Boston Globe online to read Peter Gammons' column for any mention of the White Sox. If James is going back to the Athletic, the more power to him, and us.

Fegan Departing Sox Machine
On the reddit thread referenced a podcast where he gave a long winding answer that left the other two hosts befuddled/annoyed, with nothing left to say about the topic.

Fegan Departing Sox Machine
Sorry, I really didn’t mean it to sound negative. I meant because you obviously watch the pods with Fegan more often than me that you would have a more educated opinion on him. I just watched the most recent pod with James and Fegan and some other dude (can’t remember his name) that you shared, and Fegan struggled to get his point across and was involuntarily/sarcastically laughing at most of the questions. Both James’es know way more about baseball than Our Chuck, but Fegan would also be terrible in Our Chuck’s current role. Strange cadence is spot on. I assume it is nervousness.

Dodgers' fans aren't going to trade arguably the greatest player in modern baseball history (making $46 million inflation adjusted) for anyone. Payroll is meaningless right now anyway. (Although I'm sure most would like to launch Kyle Tucker to the moon.) And the MVP Award won't be based on a salary/value comparison, either.

8/12 White Sox vs Reds, 6:40PM CHSN, Castillo vs Lowder
Catching up on this thread. Bet they know they will need a long man tomorrow. Castillo was superb tonight in the highlights I saw. This thread tonight is, um, odd.

Fegan Departing Sox Machine
Why am I an "even"? Fegan's got a strange cadence. I like not waiting for 10 seconds for somebody to find the perfect word. I'm listening to Todd Rundgren interviews right now. (Dude's really intriguing on many levels.) He'll stop for half minute, and I'll have to click back into that tab to see what's going on, and he's stuck on a word.

That pudding face is @Chicago White Sox’s wife’s hall pass. I would bet $1000 dollars that not only is @Chicago White Sox better looking, but that he could also beat Meidroth’s little 5’9” ass. Pretty sure my 18 year old son was that tall at age 12. 🤣- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
He started against the Reds a couple weeks ago and threw it a fair amount (17 pitches) but the usage/sequencing was different and it was not getting whiffs at all (1 whiff on 8 swings). He also threw it to RHH then which he didn't do at all tonight. Still turned in a solid outing (7 IP, 3 ER, 3 K) but obviously tonight was a different level.- And that's another bounce back WHITE SOX WINNER
Got great bat to ball skills and a pudding face.- 8/12 Games
playing a guy like him shallow is certainly a choice. that ball was launched off a cannon.- And that's another bounce back WHITE SOX WINNER
fwiw castillo's advanced stats suggest a solid 4th starter type. obviously with a change of perspective and injected into a pennant race on a young team that also gets the juices flowing. His contract is what it is, hopefully he can keep it up and we'll take the production.- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
This was actually mentioned in the initial trade thread. Someone mentioned that Castillo had stopped throwing his changeup which caused his downfall this year, but I think it may have been @fathom who said that he stopped throwing it because he couldn’t get it over the plate. It was probably a little of both. So hopefully, he continues getting his change over the plate way more consistently and continues to gain confidence in throwing it more and more, which will lead to a shrinking ERA. It doesn’t matter how hard you throw. If you throw all fastballs, you will eventually get hammered by major league hitters. You literally need to “change” it “up” and “change” speeds which is what completely fucks with even the best hitters.- Poll: Who will be the next starting pitcher not currently on the 26
He’s definitely the next starter up.- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
I think part of why he was so effective with it tonight is that the scouting report was that he no longer throws it that much, nor does he throw it all that effectively. Reds hitters looked clueless when they saw the pitch.- 8/12 Games
