“The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
I am no longer an Illinois taxpayer so I'll keep this more general. Taxpayers funds recreational facilities throughout their community. People fund dog parks who don't own dogs. National parks they never visit. Historic sites they don't understand. So I'm not always against tax payers funding a stadium. Soon San Antonio will have three stadiums standing that the Spurs have all called home. They will all continue to exist and host events. The city who gladly finance a football or baseball stadium of the leagues would vote to expand to San Antonio.

Similarly, this part about how the Ishbia brothers decided to put initial prioritization on growing the team fanbase, as opposed to maximizing funds, stood out to me: So it would seem Justin is very much interested in both growing the target audience of the White Sox with a new stadium while also ensuring that us existing fans have the accessibility to continue to support the team and watch/attend games. Wonderful.

Yeah, I guess Dodgers fans will have to cry over the 3 WS trophies that team won in this decade alone.....matching the total WS titles for the Sox in 120+ years.....when they realize the Sox won more playoff games this postseason.

“The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
It almost seems too good to be true that the Sox have an owner-in-waiting who is serious about building a privately-financed new ballpark and is putting many things in motion to make it happen. It would be such a White Sox thing if this effort fails and we spend the next 30 years arguing that the existing ballpark is not that bad and that the current location is not that bad if only people would give it a chance, blah blah blah. Yeah, it'll be very disappointing.....but as a Sox fan I'm conditioned to expect that we can't have nice things. So while I'm cautiously optimistic, I won't believe it's happening until there are shovels in the ground. The A's, Rays, and Royals are all getting new ballparks. Kroenke is buying the Angels and I expect him to either massively overhaul their stadium or build a new one at the current site. After that, if the Sox stay at Rate Field long-term, it'll likely be ranked 29th or 30th when ballpark rankings come out. Now cue the hyperbolic outrage and personal attacks in 3....2....1.....

2027 Offense
Fair enough, was hoping that was a significant contributor. His approach needs to improve obviously, but if he had a disc issue, I’d be more confident that could be fixed.

2027 Offense
Bummer… herniated disc could be more easily addressed

Fall/Winter Ball 2026
the mental illness of trade frenzy. Trade players which we think will be of full value. This is what small market habitual losing organizations do. They are not the Brewers. Yet our crystal ball says Roch is a sure thing but we seem to forget this sport is also plagued with injuries. Sports are full of a "sure thing" but it doesn't always work that way. I love it when lower picks turn out. I always wondered what it is like to be a fan of a large market. We talk trades, they talk signings. We have a lot more in common with A's fans than Dodger's fans.

112 mph exit velocity. The guy is a beast. Quit rooting for his failure and join the bandwagon @southsider2k5

Fall/Winter Ball 2026
Isn't that often the case when they leave the organization? Somewhere guys that don't pan out can be backup players or be searching the waiver wire for the next Andrus. I get it if players aren't ready. The AFL is a really small sample size. You have A pitchers working on a single pitch. It's also a rehab environment. It bums me the 'great savior" Roch can't be there. Given his short sample size we fall into the foolishness of this being a predictable sport.

How is Bonemer looking in CF? I'm not sure he has the speed to stick there. I know they are trying to find a spot for him with alot of the corners clogged but it doesn't seem like a defensive fit.

Meh… they’ll still have a $350 million dollar payroll and be in the playoffs again next season.

“The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
So far technology has stalled the middle class who are working longer hours for lower standards of living. Capitalism doesn't reward altruism. Companies will start offering 32 hour work weeks without benefits, the Walmart model with lower and lower standards of living. One party celebrated closing government offices and putting people out of work. Are they really going to celebrate shorter work weeks for the same pay?

This Sox on 35th write up is rather lengthy (it says a 16 minutes read time at the top) but an interesting read. It discusses how Shore Capital operates: So, it sounds like their business model is not simply to buy up businesses, suck them dry, and sell off the husk of what remains as I've heard countless times on Soxtalk. Imagine that. This was an interesting statement: I'm all for that! I doubt that'll ever happen in this country and the current "work until you drop dead" philosophy, but that's the first time I heard a billionaire envision that. Usually their vision of the future is people being tied in to work for even longer hours during the week thanks to technology.

2027 Offense
I think his struggles started with the back problems in June. Then he fouled off 2 pitches off his leg in a week in July. I'm sure those things didn't help, but I don't know if they had much to do with how bad he was in August and September. The late season struggles seemed far more mental than physical.

That's a very good discussion by Josh Nelson about the current status of the South Loop, how it compares to the growth in the West Loop, and Ishbia's grand vision for the South Loop beyond just a baseball stadium. I also found the discussion about Lot G (beginning at around 23:10) very interesting. So, ISFA might not own all of Lot G as part of it might belong to Union Pacific/Amtrak? He brings up a very good point of where Amtrak employees at the facility would park with Lot G being the most obvious answer. As he says, that could impact parking availability for Sox fans. Though, I suppose most Amtrak workers would be there during regular weekday work hours, which rarely conflicts with Sox games. It'll be a 24/7 facility, but after hours would be for emergency repairs and it wouldn't be fully staffed on weekends or at night.

2027 Offense
“It’s just one of those things throughout the season; things kinda come up,” Montgomery said. “It’s just getting ahead of it so it doesn’t linger and get any worse. We’re looking to play long-term this season, so we thought this was the best thing to do. “Yesterday, [it] felt a little stiff and kind of locked up. But as I got treatment and did some exercises, moving around, it felt a lot better. Today, came in, felt a lot better." cst seems more like back spasms than a herniated disc

Sure, but he has NEVER spoke to this fanbase in such detailed and broad facing terms. This is not only a vision, but on a scope andscale this regime has never engaged in

2027 Offense
What’s the nature of Colson’s back issue? If it’s a disc bulge, he could get a microdiscectomy in the offseason and be good as new.
-
2027 Offense
"He's arguably the highest upside player in the system, at least on the MLB team" Not seeing it with Braden. He's never going to be a plus runner and his arm only makes him slightly above average in RE. That means he's going to have to hit and hit for significant power to be valuable at all on a corner. When you said system...I took that to mean all levels from draft through active roster. Colson Bonemer Cholowsky and Billy Carlson would rank higher because middle infielders and catchers will always carry more weight than corner outfielders. Then there's Teel and ofc Vargas still with untapped potential as well...considering Kyle really hasn't even finished one full season of at bats.

Thanks, I find it hard not to be giddy about the potential for all of this and what it could mean for the franchise with the more I see about it.

2027 Rotation
When Jeff Samardzija is on the trade market, you do whatever you can to get him. uhh I mean Reid detmers Not giving up real prospects this deadline was wise even if Detmers in place of Castillo wins us the division. They still gave up too much. I’d rather have Sean Burke and teams aren’t lining up to give away their best prospects to acquire him.

“The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
Having Ishbia speak about his vision for the Railyards is so refreshing. If JR was the spokesman and said the same thing word for word, I would not feel excited about the Sox future.
