Yep, and he certainly knows he'll be walking into the lion's den at the meeting. I can't imagine what he could say that's going to change their mind on their opposition to Amtrak moving in and (possibly) the Sox moving out. Hopefully he's more diplomatic than tone-deaf Jerry ever has been. As Lip says, he and Amtrak have the upper hand because they don't need city approval for this. But I'd imagine they want to quell the outrage that's been getting lots of local media coverage over the last couple of weeks. If they go in offering transparency on the process, efforts to mitigate noise and pollution, and perhaps investments in the community, that might take the wind out of the sails of the effort to stop this.

I doubt it. Taylor should have been a starter from the outset (beyond a couple of "get your feet wet" months); that he wasn't said there was an issue. Smith has lost his velocity; he's deceptive, but does deception carry for 6-7 innings? He practically falls off the mound after each pitch; but he did that in college and that didn't seem to dissuade anyone, so perhaps it doesn't matter. It's like 75% of the pitching program is funny delivery pitchers. Hopefully that changes. Anyway, more optimistic on Sandlin, Cannon and perhaps Thorpe than these 2.

If we win this division nobody will care how we got there. All they can control is the next 10 games against sub .500 teams, 7 of which are at home. Yes, the Starting Pitching has been s%*# most of the year. Yes, the relief is gassed. Yes, our supposed best hitters are in a horrific slump the past two months. Yes, the trade deadline has been a spectacular failure. Having said all that, they still control their own destiny. Find a way to win 7, you punch your ticket to win the division. Win 6- probably punch your ticket into the playoffs anyway. Nut up and just win.
