  1. Past hour

  2. They've got Tanner Murray and possibly Baldwin (not sure they still view him as a guy who can see time in the infield or not) for next year as well.
  3. And he can play CF and SS; dump him and they'll spend $5 mill on a utility infielder next year. The tradeoff would be Grichuk or Doyle. Switching Grichuk for him is obviously ridiculous. I'm still not sure why they traded for Doyle, but they had their reasons and I doubt they dump him this quickly to wishcast a Suarez return to form (such that it was).
  4. Wedded ignorant bliss is preferred to always waiting or expecting for the other shoe to drop . Prolong the honeymoon as long as possible. When things go sour people will sign the divorce papers. Just seems an odd time time to yell " It's a mirage people" ! So what if some don't understand why Caleb Bonemer is playing CF , it's a very minority opinion and they aren't running the show.
  5. Definitely no on Suarez but I’ve always said that Robert seems like a vibes guy. When things are going well, he seems to play better. Nothing more than a 4th OF/platoon guy though when rosters expand. I’d rather use the extra bench spot on that in September than the other 4 options: 3rd catcher (blah), Nishida, Perez, other DFA/waiver claim/etc not yet in org.
  6. Weren't willing to part with Jesus Made or their other talented MI prospect..
  7. No on Suarez or Robert Jr. , or messing with the team's composition at this point, other than the pitching staff.
  8. Also, our weakest hitters against LHP the last two months have been Murakami (68 wRC+) and Braden (55 wRC+). Both have been a bit unlucky with batted ball luck, but also aren’t rocking great ISO’s during stretch. Murakami had a 128 wRC+ against LHP through June, so there is zero reason to think he’s just a platoon guy at this point. Braden has struggled all year against LHP and while I don’t think he’s a platoon guy long term, I doubt he suddenly starts hitting them this year. If Suarez could actually hit LHP, you could put him at DH and Grichuk in RF and then sit Braden. I’m just not convinced he can hit LHP at this point in his career. Luis Robert, if made available, would be a much preferable fit because he still can hit LHP and would provide improved OF defense as well.
  9. If that dude could have held it together in his prime for like 3 straight years and no health issues it would have been stupid

  12. I think Colson and Mune are getting ready to bust out
  13. I have a feeling Colson is going to get his mojo back starting with this series in Minnesota.
  14. 2.33 ERA with Atlanta in the ‘twilight’ of his career. What a beast, what a run. Cemented his status as a hall of famer.

jeff cohen @TripleAJeff Five shutout innings for Davis Martin. 1 hit, 1 walk, 5 strikeouts. He’s only at 59 pitches but that’s it. He only threw 9 sinkers but got 5 called strikes. He threw 14 4-seamers, averaging 93.8 mph, with 2 called strikes and 2 whiffs. In addition, he tossed 13 cutters, 9 curves, 9 changeups and 5 sliders. He got 3 whiffs off the changeups, the most of any pitch. Martin was very efficient, and his control was excellent. I’m hoping the velo drop on the hard stuff has more to do with the fact that he’s coming off an IL stint for a blister. Tanner McDougal on in relief.
  16. That’s the biggest issue. Another RH bat could certainly help, but Saurez doesn’t inspire much hope right now as a lefty masher.
  17. Brewers should have paid up for Skubal and gave themselves a lockdown 1-2 punch in the playoffs.
  18. Suarez is a likable guy, it looks like he will be staying in Cincy.
  19. Agree. We need more pop against lefties. Can’t be satisfied throwing in Acuna, Doyle, Rogers/Romo against lefties with Will’s split obsession.

Very positive outing by Martin, excellent results.
  21. There’s this excercise being done that precludes such and such other options in CF (or other positions) as if we have a done deal based on what happened this season. I would love to know where this crystal ball level certitude comes from. The magic store. Everything and everyone is on the table, fluid, and also a suspect. Including the late bloomer out of center field. Otherwise, lets just sign him for $300 million this winter. Is anyone willing to do that? No. Anything is possible.
  22. Kind of interesting how the blister might have prevented a suspension…
  23. I reiterate this but anybody who thought the cubs would catch the brewers this year were out of their minds. You cannot drop multiple games in a row and expect to catch a team like that this is so well drilled and basically working from muscle memory about what they have to do down the stretch.

He remarked earlier this year that he pitches better with extra rest. It's going to be tough to give that to him going forward, but hopefully this reset does the trick.
