I just assume there were issues, restrictions, situations behind the scenes that at least help to explain what happened although what those could be I can't say. I was telling my kids something this as we drove home from the game and I was ridiculing Getz & Venable. Feels like instead of burning your entire tired bullpen in one game, you could have used your main trade deadline addition to get you five innings. But nope, he’s so bad he wasn’t even an option tonight to protect a depleted bullpen.

I think they said he's day to day, that would mean no serious injury, guess he also passed concussion protocol

Looks to me like we've seen the last of Luis Castillo this year. I actually thought they might bring him into the game tonight out of the bullpen. Wouldn't it of made sense to bring him in tonight? The bullpen pitchers are tired and look burned out. The only reliever we have left for tomorrow is Taylor. By pitching Castillo tonight he could not have done worse than what the other bullpen pitchers did tonight. Plus it would have given them a day of rest.

Losing arguably the heart of this team for the rest of the season would be very bad

I have officially decided that Getz should be fired. His deadline reeks of either stupidity or arrogance and either way it should not be tolerated. How the f*** did we blow a 6 run lead tonight and somehow use 7 pitchers, none of whom were deadline additions. Honestly, it speaks volume to how bad of a job Getz did at the deadline. Chris should be charged with negligence for failing us so epically these last two months.

but how well have they used those resources? Is Hagen Smith really Bannister's fault? Whose fault was using 3.5 rounds of a 5 round draft for Kelley. (finally released in August). Bad development or bad pick?

one thing I do find at least slightly pleasing is how much criticism Getz is getting and will continue to get after the season ends for building one of the worst pitching staff in years, and also throwing 10s of millions of dollars at bad players who actively made your team worse

Teel's game calling needs a lot more scrutiny by the coaching staff, hell just bring back Romo and get rid of Jake Rogers after this tigers series
