It’s a totally different era across the entire sport. Top line metrics like batting and earned run averages have proportionately moved across the league. Seems like every year the CY candidates hover near 2 for an ERA and there are only a couple of hitters over .300 Back in the 90s I’d venture a guess that those measurements were more like a 3 ERA and .335 for hitters. Just remember back when seeing a starting pitcher hit 96 mph regularly meant he was a stud. Now, that is basically an expectation while the real impressive heaters are getting up to 102+. Insane.

Newcomb hasn't given up an earned run in 12.1 innings. in those 8 games the Sox are 6-2. Taylor had a streak going back to July 4th of 22.1 innings that ended today. in those 16 games the Sox were 12-4. Since 6/21 in 22 games covering 21.1 IP Jordan Hicks is 2-0 with a 1.27 ERA & 1.82 FIP with 32K & 8 BB. Also has 5 holds in that span and 1 blown save. Sox were 10-12 in his 22 games

If anyone else is confused about the Drew Thorpe timeline this is what I found out. The Start Date: Thorpe's official rehab assignment clock began on July 18, 2026. The 30-Day Deadline: This gave the White Sox until August 17, 2026, to conclude his rehab. The Catch (Rainouts and Delays): Days where games are postponed due to weather, or built-in travel/off-days between moving to different minor league affiliates (like his move from Double-A to Triple-A), sometimes do not count against the 30-day clock, slightly extending the calendar window. The Goal: Because Thorpe missed an entire year following April 2025 Tommy John surgery, the White Sox are using every single allowable day of this window to let him build up his pitch count and stamina in the minor leagues, rather than rushing him back to the majors. Once this strict window officially expires, the White Sox cannot keep him on a "rehab assignment" anymore. They must either activate him to the major league roster or formally reinstate him and option him to the minors. So what I glean from this is pay attention to The Catch section. Basically by starting in the low minors you extend his 30 days to extra days for each subsequent move up the ladder. I do not know if there was also any weather days added to this. But it's been 6 days since his 30 days rehab assignment ended but we have no clue about how many extra days they have been allowed. They will either use an option to officially option him to AAA or call him up but nothing has been announced but you'd think it would be soon.

We'll see on Thursday, but yeah....it sounds like the city council was part of the revised deal that has been announced. The Rays agreed to chip in more money to the project to get this agreement. Surely they wouldn't have the city council as part of this announcement if they didn't have the votes to approve it. Hopefully this will help address their attendance problems. It also looks like the Royals are well on their way to getting new ballpark deal done. If both the Rays and the Royals get their stadium projects approved, does that leave only the White Sox in MLB with questions lingering about the future of their ballpark? I think everyone else is otherwise set for the foreseeable future. Maybe the Angels at some point.

When Crochet signed his six-year, $170 million extension with Boston, the contract included a player opt-out following the 2030 season. However, there was also a protection clause for the Red Sox if Crochet missed at least 120 consecutive days because of an arm injury. That clause has now been triggered. Crochet's 2030 opt-out is voided, meaning he can no longer choose to leave Boston after that season. Instead, the Red Sox now control an additional year of his contract and have gained a $15 million club option for 2032. In other words, what has been a nightmare season for Crochet has created a significant benefit for Boston from a contract standpoint. Clever move sh1tcanning Armor Park and Rate Field without spending a dime of his own money. And, as SS2K pointed out, it would be difficult to stop Amtrak/Ishbia from doing this. The agreement with Reinsdorf and Ishbia provided inter alia that " Ishbia will make capital infusions into the White Sox as a limited partner in 2025 and 2026 that will be used to pay down existing debt and support ongoing team operations." Was there any infusion of capital that assisted or could have assisted the White Sox in 2025 or more importantly, in 2026? As an example, a relatively small amount of financial support may have made a big difference at the trade deadline. Instead Getz appeared to be cash strapped during a pennant race. There are a lot of questions and it would be helpful to hear some answers from Ishbia himself rather than having to listen to his surrogates and attorneys.

If we get swept by Cleveland, we essentially lose 4 games in the standings. 3 from the sweep, 1 from the tiebreaker. If we win 1 in the Cleveland series, we essentially lose 0 games in the standings. Minus 1 if we lose 2 of 3, but plus 1 for clinching tiebreaker. 1 win in that series sort of equals 4 games in the standings. Or is my math/logic bad?

If you put the ball in play it can be a DP. If you K with 1 out you have another hitter to try. Thomas was one of the greatest RHH in baseball history. Sox don't have a guy like that now. I'd take it more seriously if you were telling me their wRC+ or wOBA was bad instead of their batting avg.

Fighting in the upper deck at the Rate is legit terrifying given how steep it is up there. Can’t believe that one dude jumped multiple rows and drop kicked another guy in the face.
