I think Braden comes much sooner than that if all goes well (big caveat). That being said, it’s part of the reason you add a cheap vet to hedge against any delay in his readiness. And I fully agree those are the three guys who should get the focus heading into camp. And given two of them are RH hitters, I think that vet we bring in being LH makes the most sense. Tauchman just checks a lot of boxes. As for Kelenic, I view him as a lottery ticket who needs to go absolute HAM in camp to make the OD roster. However, in the unlikely event he figures things out, he should still have two more seasons of club control and I doubt he gets traded.
-
Just go with what we have. Tauchman can hit ok but he’s not much of an OF.
-
There's really no reason to bring back a broken down Tauchman in any capacity. He was terrible in the field last year and his legs are shot. He also saw a huge drop-off at the plate the final 2 months of the season (.220 BA). At 35 yrs old, it isn't going to get any better for him. Bringing him back to just DFA him a month or two later doesn't make sense, especially when so many guys currently on the 40-man are way younger and out of options.

Yes, I have standards. Congratulations on finally figuring it out. Now ask yourself why after you made this list talking about continuing to rage post reply to all of my posts, you spend so much time obsessing over me. Is it either you enjoy unhappiness , your standards are too high or you need another team that meets your standards. Remember, no one is forcing you to be unhappy. -
I still remember someone describing that exchange as the White Sox replacing a guy who would run through a wall for his teammates with a guy who complained about them putting a wall there.
-
Average WAR for the 10th pick in the draft is ~5.5. Clayton had 19.5 bWAR/18.2 fWAR. He would be a great outcome for Carlson.

I hope they don't lose 100+ games again this year but the starting pitching is poor, the injury history since 2018 has been brutal, they are going to be playing a lot of relatively unproven kids and JR is still running the show. It certainly possible they continue to bottom out again. -
I wouldn't think Braden Montgomery is up any time before September, at the earliest. Tauchman would probably be the best option for this team; the devil you know, and all. He's also nice insurance against an extended Jarrod Kelenic run if Kelenic can't turn it around. I would really think the most energy should be put towards getting Baldwin, Acuña, and Pereira as much time in the lineup as possible. If Kelenic hits, he may be gone in July. If Acuña and Pereira hit, you have your outfield. BTW, from 8/2 on, Baldwin OPSed .803.

People have been saying that for several years and it’s never an issue. This roster still has a ton of holes. I’d rather have the veteran providing some sort of stability around the young position player group. If the young guys are good enough it won’t be a problem finding them playing time.

No one is forcing you to be unhappy except your own standards you just said that. So either you enjoy unhappiness , your standards are too high or you need another team that meets your standards. See I care about your happiness. - Today

I hope he did sign here with the hopes of being traded to a contender, that's his purpose here. For where the White Sox are now, this is what they should be doing. If they rebuild this thing and are contending for playoffs every year, then yeah, I would be pretty disappointed if they were signing flip candidates. For todays roster, its what is for the best for the future. -
I wouldn't be; we'll never get anywhere if high draft choices can't hit. We need solid regulars, if not all stars. William Bergola is a really good defender. Defensive SSs aren't that hard to find. Ones that can hit are.

No frankly it doesnt. I like them to win too. Im the same way in that regard but u cant hide misery , it affects your mood and I need not be miserable with more important matters. I dont think they will lose 4 in a row with 100 losses. Why would you even think that way ? -
Tauchman is who I’d grab. He’s going to be dirt cheap because of the injury risk, which is totally fine because as some point you hope Braden forces his way onto to the roster.
-
Well, Bader has been signed so who do you want now? Hays? Tauchman? It’s just a pile of junk left after Bader.

This would make sense if the other guys were going to be on the next decent team. -
If the median outcome is Royce Clayton that's a pretty good trade chip, or super utility defense guy. I'd be content with that outcome.
-
Literally the only good reason to grab a guy like this is with the hope of flipping him at the deadline, and well to be honest, we have all seen what the price of flawed OFs at the deadline looks like the past few years.
-
Yeah, I don't even mean it as a real comp, but more of the poster child for a stud defender that you hope his bat catches up with.
-
He was putrid hitting on the White Sox but still had value because of his defense. Still don't like getting rid of Valentin for him, even though Valentin was just about done.
-
Not when hes not actually blocking anyone.
-
I hear his description and I instantly thought of Royce Clayton, wherein on the years that his bat carried, he was one of the better SS's in the game, but when it couldn't the glove did the talking.
-
It's really hard to fix, as you're rebuilding a significant timing mechanism in their swing. Burger had the same issue but he made it work for a while. I think big leg kicks are hard to fix for a similar reason. Dansby Swanson is a comp for Carlson on the high end and I wouldn't mind that at all.
-
As tempting as it is to see an actual major leaguer in the outfield, signing a guy to take at bats from unproven outfielders on a rebuilding team feels a little counterintuitive.

then you also have the atmosphere of players signing in the hopes of being traded. I doubt their goal is to remain thru the contract I guess my concern would be the guys coming in before the closer innings 6-8
