Eugenio Suarez put on waivers
Sometimes they try to receive it but muff it and then realize they should have just let it bounce away

8/28 White Sox @ Twins: Castillo vs Kremer 7:10 PM (And off-day thread)
Such an opportunity to beat on JR for saving a day's MLB active roster money by dropping Nishida today and not tomorrow. People here are slipping, I tell ya.

Sox acquire Brenton Doyle - trade Adams and Carlos Vielma (SS)
He is. Still on the 60-day IL.

Sox acquire Brenton Doyle - trade Adams and Carlos Vielma (SS)
I think so, but there hasn’t been an update on him in like a month when he was staring to do long toss. Crazy he’s going to miss two full years from his TJS.

This here could totally be right. I just think at minimum they add another $20M+ AAV type SP, even if it’s an older guy on a shorter deal. I’m hoping for a younger, more impactful SP, but Jerry is risk adverse so hard to bank on that part specifically.

“The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
Sounds like a large segment of the American people.

Twins calling up Walker Jenkins to feast on our AAAA pitching.

Eugenio Suarez put on waivers
Suarez has actually been awful against lefties this year. He wasn't good against them last year either.

Ky busch still in the organization?

Eugenio Suarez put on waivers
Eugenio Suarez OPS while helping Venezuela win the WBC this year -- 1.247. You think this guy might like big moments?

Is Jordan Leasure a wizard replacement candidate or will he be ready to pitch again in ST ?

8/28 White Sox @ Twins: Castillo vs Kremer 7:10 PM (And off-day thread)
Rough 1st inning but otherwise did fine . His pitches always had decent movement and he'd shown a lot better control lately. Thought he was a good choice to eat some BP innings. He did and after a day off the bullpen should be much fresher and another day closer to winning the division and hopefully getting Martin, Burke and Castillo right. Tough road to hoe without at least 2 of them getting back on track. But they have risen to the challenges all year. Cleveland pretty much the only team the Sox haven't put out of their misery yet and that's because after a period of suckage they fattened up on the Angels and Colorado. Beating the Twins while Cleveland actually losses a couple and things will look better.

Eugenio Suarez put on waivers
I mean the context is why Acuna is on the roster. If my aunt was my uncle she'd have balls. Vargas isn't a 2B. Chase isn't a starting SS.

….but then they need to find someone to replace him as team wizard.

Eugenio Suarez put on waivers
I wouldn’t omit the context. As I understand it, it has more to do with their lack of outfield depth. They are limited there which causes Antonocci to play LF. Since he has to play there pretty much everyday, Chase is best suited to play most days at 2B. If Vargas played 2B, it would give them more flexibility.

Besides a blister was there any injury? I am assuming he could pitch in the Houston series coming up.

No one saw that coming but thanks for the update. Cannon after 3 innings was going to be replaced with a fresh arm . Benintendi will be back Friday assuredly so no Nishida.

Tristan Peters will wake up WED morning as the fourth best CFer in MLB by fWAR
I did call him the Saluki Sultan of Swat in the post game winner thread before I even saw that tweet. There's another tweet about Jimmie Foxx and is it Lou Gehrig out there?

Seriously the Sox are not in that stage anymore . But they still are doing what got them to that stage which is find middle of the diamond players who already play really good defense and see if you can get them to hit. The only time you can take a chance on questionable defenders is if at one point they aren't too far removed from a high ranking as a MilB player like Vargas. Sox just don't have the runway for corner OF's but they do have a little for a GG CF.

42 innings, one start. They clearly don't want him there as the primary backup.

Way back in wilder times the town of Cicero was always the last resort for getting a drink with some select bars open to 6:00 am. Looks like Hammond holds the title of last resort for the Bears.

Doomers, panicans, optimists and everybody betwixt - do the Sox make the playoffs? (8/25/2026 poll)
I'm not emotionally attached to losses but I am to the wins. That's why I don't point fingers at anyone in the organization except the man at the top. Like with the deadline trades . Didn't think they were that good but it's also exactly along the lines of what I expected. No waste of prospects on anything except multi year players. Had the potential to be an A grade this year but hard to get results from bad 1st half players right away especially position players who ride the bench for the most part. It sucks but somehow got a couple great performances from Urquidy and Castillo but there's also the potential to be an F grade. No reason to be mad when they don't perform well , it's how Getz has operated all along. The one good 1st half player we got is old and a RP so that fluctuation in outcomes is not totally unexpected but he was the one guy everyone liked because he had that good 1st half . You forget how many OF from the trash heap he tried before Peters and had some runway after Acuna failed. Mead failed in his runway. Vargas rose from the trash heap too . No one wanted Mune. Hudson rose from the garbage not in the way the other guys I just mentioned have but he's been part of a stronger bullpen and hasn't fallen out of favor yet. Colson was written off by a lot of people and he still drives people crazy.
