  2. I agree. If anything, maybe a RHH backup that doesn't cost much.
  3. Pretty healthy kid though. They talk about his leg strength being in the 90th percentile of ML players. It would be very surprising if there was a downside to that
  4. That's one of the comments that came up about Cholowsky on draft day. How he's so into weight training and conditioning, seemingly at the behest of his father. "Cholowsky’s father, Dan, attended Cal before being selected in the first round (39th overall) of the 1991 MLB Draft by the Cardinals. He played eight years of professional ball before becoming a Major League scout. Roch often joined his father on scouting trips, soaking up lessons that went well beyond the box score."
  5. When they do the Double Dutch, that’s them dancin
  6. Karl Ravech is expected to be laid off by ESPN after more than 30 years at the network, sources told Front Office Sports. An ESPN spokesperson declined to comment. Ravech joined ESPN as an anchor in 1993 and was a longtime host of SportsCenter and Baseball Tonight. He eventually pivoted to play-by-play and served as the lead caller of the Sunday Night Baseball franchise from 2022-2025. He also called the Little League World Series for ESPN
  7. Do we see more injuries? I’d be interested in data. That was always just the pitcher’s lament in years past I don’t know man. There’s some big boys out there playing baseball. It doesn’t sound from outside appearances like Teel would be a type to go against what trainers are telling him about preparation and rehab
  8. Prospect #84 Ninth-round choice in 2022, University of Arkansas catcher Michael Turner, is an older prospect, but brings a solid set of skills to the White Sox: solid lefty bat, good defense, receiving and arm. Turner is also a "bit of a hoss," so there could be some James McCann upside.
  9. McGuire/M.Maldonado come on down.
  10. Today
  11. Even if Teel is going to miss significant time, I'm not sure the Sox should trade for a catcher, unless it's a very cheap rental. Starting pitching and a bullpen arm have to be the priorities.
  12. BamaDoc replied to kwill's topic in FutureSox Board
I’ve wondered about Turner getting a shot. Need a 40 man but could drop Romo or something
  13. Or make a big splash and get Langeliers and Ginn from OakSacVegas.
  14. Go get Tyler Stephenson and either Brady Singer or Nick Lodolo from Cincy.
  15. Some weight training is helpful (i.e., focusing on reps with lighter weights rather than heavy weights) But on balance, Mite is right. Not sure why Teel, or any hitter, would choose to bulk up for power instead of focusing on other things like agility. leverage and bat speed. Teel decided to bulk up, at least in part, in order to gain more power. As to whether that was worth it, the proof is in the pudding. An additional 20 pounds on the same hamstrings, knees, ankles, and Achilles is a lot. Pick up a five pound dumbbell in each hand (let alone 10 lb dumbbells), and then walk or jog holding those, or try a few squats. Setting aside weight gain and conditioning as possibly contributing to repeated injury...look at a replay of the injury. Teel's spikes were loaded with the reddish sand/soil behind home plate. As SS2K noted, it looked like Teel's foot actually dug into that soft sandy soil before he made a move and injured it. Yes, I'm mad, and I'm blaming the Rangers' ground crew as well.
  16. I don't follow FutureSox to a great degree of depth but is the cat drafted out of Arkansas at AAA a guy?
  17. If Stoney decides to hang it up, can we get Dan Plesac full time as a color guy? He and Schriff are pretty solid together. They’ve got good chemistry.
  18. Give Roch a week behind the plate down in Charlotte and bring him up as the Sox full time catcher for the rest of the year.
  19. Might be time to get Boston Smith behind the plate more.
  20. I remember that weight training for baseball players was considered a no no back in the day. That being said I will take today's nutrition/fitness/recovery over anything they did in the past.
  21. I wonder if Joe Ryan is in a dead arm phase or is he hurt?
  22. That move would be a huge benefit to keep the bullpen fresh.
  23. "This year, with the help of (Wright State associate head coach) Jordan Chiero, I really took off. He always kept me going in the right direction to grow every day. He did a good job of making me understand that.” His catching skills improved after returning to the position following two years in the outfield (started at Cincy) and a third season playing both infield and outfield. “At the end of the day I wanted to win,” Smith explained about his original change of position from catcher to the outfield. “My mind wasn’t set on playing pro baseball, it was about winning. Then last year everyone got hurt and they needed a shortstop. I have a selfless mentality to do anything to help win games. I still did reps with the catchers, there was enough time to get my work in and stay fresh, and that ended up helping out this year.” Smith pointed to “being a complete catcher” as what will be key in moving up the ladder of the organization quickly. “God gave me a unique ability to hit and steal bases, not many catchers do that,” pointed out Smith, who is the only person in his family to play athletics beyond high school. “This is the first year since I was a junior in high school that I was a full-time catcher. If I continue to improve at that, which I think I can, I really like my chances.” prepbaseballreport.com https://www.thebaseballcube.com/content/player/239436/
