Mike Vasil "The Wizard"
Grow a sack, wizard. My son just full thickness tore his ACL for the second time at age 18 and asked his head coach to play through it for the season, just as he asked Coach Q in his junior year at Brother Rice to play through his first full ACL tear. He was politely declined for the second time. He is currently aimlessly walking around the St. Norbert College campus in frustration. Sucks but it is what it is. There’s always next year. The doctor asked him how he was even walking around without severe pain… Because he the toughest m*ther f*cker I know. And no, as opposed to the norm, I am not tougher than my son… I hate this photo but at the same time it is the most honest depiction of the most utter frustration of all time after receiving his MRI results. f*** everything. I have shared many pics of my son and his journey through football at every level. I’m sure he would love any feedback or advice from everyone on this site through his tough journey back. Sorry in advance for posting this in the wrong forum, but, yeah…

9/3, Sox at Astros, 1:10 PM CT. Castillo vs Brown
For me, it's more that after the last 3 years, and really outside of 2021, practically the better part of everything post 2008, this fanbase deserves a run of legitimate playoff competing teams. An 11 year playoff drought and no playoff series wins since 2005. Hell, remove '05 from the equation, the Sox haven't won a playoff series since 1917. To say this fanbase is long overdue for a run of success would be the understatement of the millennium.

That would make sense if they were a playoff team last year or a team full of veterans. We'd feel a lot better if they were 6-10 games out. "Hey at least we didn't lose 100 this year."

Seranthony did that s%*# with us all the time. He'd blow up, have like 5 or 6 good outings, make you think he's back on track, and then blow up out of nowhere again.

The Shields / Tatis Jr. trade will always be worse. Tatis Jr. was six years younger than Boston Smith when he was acquired by the Padres — age 17. Smith could still be bad but he would literally have to be called up tomorrow and tear it up to even attempt to match the Tatis Jr. trade in badness, and it still wouldn’t be as bad. Tatis Jr. already had a 3 fWAR season in his rookie season at age 20.

This Day In Sox History 9/4...
Six factoids today: September 4, 1937 – Sox outfielder Mike Kreevich tied the Major League record by hitting four doubles in a 9-1 win over the Tigers at Tiger Stadium. He went 4 for 6, with three runs scored and an RBI. Three of his four doubles came off Detroit starting pitcher Tommy Bridges. September 4, 1960 - A viral infection knocked Nellie Fox out of the line-up for the first time since August of 1955 in the first game of a double header at home against Detroit. Fox was replaced by Billy Goodman. Nellie played in 798 consecutive games, still the White Sox record, and 1,072 out of 1,073. September 4, 1961 – It was a strange start to a good Sox career for pitcher Joe Horlen. Horlen entered the game in Minnesota wearing a blank jersey. That’s right…no name, no number, on the back! As Horlen was warming up, Twins manager and former Sox outfielder Sam Mele came out to talk to the umpire basically wondering who that kid was on the mound! Only one other time in Major League history has this ever happened as the Reds Eric Davis suffered the same fate on May 19, 1984. Joe allowed two hits in four innings of work and got the win in the 9-5 decision. An unusual Major League debut! September 4, 1970 – It was one of the key dates in franchise history as Roland Hemond was hired as player personnel director to rebuild the franchise. The club would lose a team record 106 games in 1970. The very next year they would improve by 23 games from 56 to 79 wins and by 1972 would be a legitimate title contender. Hemond would eventually become G.M. and stay with the team initially through 1985. Also coming along as new field manager was Chuck Tanner who’d be named Manager of the Year in 1972. Both men came to Chicago from the Angels organization where they had worked together for a number of years. September 4, 1995 - Robin Ventura hit a pair of grand slams in a 14-3 win over Texas. He was the eighth player in history at the time to hit a pair in one game. His eight RBI’s tied the franchise record. His home runs came in the fourth and fifth inning and he also had a double in the contest giving him 10 total bases for the night. September 4, 2016 – In a wild slugfest in Minnesota, won by the Sox 13-11, first baseman Jose Abreu drove in seven RBI’s. Jose had a pair of three run home runs in the game along with an RBI single. The home runs came in the first and seventh innings. The seven RBI’s are one off the franchise record for a single game.

Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
Boston Smith will have to be a damn good bat to make it worse than the Tatis trade. Don't see that happening. In Hahn's defense, Shields was at least worth 0.7 WAR when they got him. Castillo was worth -0.6 WAR, lol. Don't get me wrong, Shields still sucked when they got him. But Castillo was just plain awful before they acquired him.

Counting on guys in their first year back post TJS is just ignorant of history.

Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
I'm not. Smith prays every night to have a fraction of the career Tatis has had. It might be the worst trade in franchise history.

Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
I'll be curious how history eventually judges the "worst" trade: Shields for Tatis or Castillo for Boston

Still 3 games up through no fault of their own.- Is soccer replacing all the US major sports (except NFL) in popularity?)
You missed Space Invaders, Donkey Kong and Pac Man lol. Atari 2600/5200 and Intellivision. There was always sports, video arcades, movie theatres/multiplexes, shopping malls, pizza places etc. Drive in theatres were dying out by the mid 80s in most bigger cities.- Mike Vasil "The Wizard"
Thanks for taking one for the tean Ron. You remind me a little of Vic Hedges. He saved my life back in the 60's.- Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
I've thought Getz was doing OK until this deadline fiasco. Even the one player who was having a good year tanked the second he got here. No idea why he wanted Castillo or the centerfielder. Now our minor league is a lot thinner to boot. Disastrous moves. Ishbia will show him the door on the first day he's in charge.- NCAA rules are going to go to court yet again
SEC will be in an AL court suing Kiffin/LSU...on Friday. Clemson @ Baton Rouge DQ Wright was a TE for Ole Miss. One more player (Z.Harris) will be ready in 2-3 weeks...which coincidentally is OleMiss vs. LSU weekend in Oxford. What's the point of the NCAA again???- 9/3 Games
Another Kanny blowout. Contributions up and down the lineup. - Mike Vasil "The Wizard"
