  2. So why was/is there 'private interest' along 55th st and 47th st corridors? Moving forward, 33rd st. One is the University of Chicago, right, but the other two areas are the hood. Well they won't be for long.
  3. I don’t mind Payton, but he’s definitely a bit dry. I’ll admit that I’ve been switching over to ESPN a lot more recently. He might be too friendly for a sports radio host, like he is too agreeable with other hosts/callers and wants to be nice to everyone.
  4. I have a few older friends that would absolutely not agree with this.
  5. If they're smart they're trying to get real voices from all revenue streams - not just current financial partners.
  6. It's definitely going to be biased towards those who mean the most to JR/Brooks Boyer financially....
  7. Today

  8. Having put together focus groups in the past, they’re likely selecting a cross-section from various walks of life - longtime season ticket holders, casual fans, young people, old people, DINKs, people with kids, . . . . The goal is to get input from all potential sources of income and revenue, not just the loyal followers, so that you can understand how to maximize revenue and engagement in an informed way.
  9. Anyone who has been a season ticket holder since the current park opened will likely at least be pushing 70 by the time a new ballpark opens. I suspect that they're not handing out invites simply based on seniority, otherwise younger fans would be totally underrepresented. The fact that he's even seeking input from a select group of fans is a good sign. But they're not going to be inviting every season ticket holder or everyone who feels that they're the "biggest Sox fan ever". Whoever goes, I hope they provide some good feedback.
  10. If that is the case, as with all trolling, how the f*** do you not have anything better to do?

  12. Great idea. Agree that Hawaii is pretty magical and I was skeptical before the trip. Some other thoughts: Disappointments St. Louis in general. What a ghost town. It might make Cleveland look cosmopolitan Whale watching boats - Any time I go on one of those 2 hour trips I can pretty much guarantee a headache (and minimal to zero whales seen) Great Trips Vietnam - No matter the flight cost and time, this is one of the cheapest and friendliest places foreign or domestic. We took a 10-11 day roundtrip to DaNang and had a blast. We quickly headed to Hoi An and also spent time on China Beach. Beautiful countryside, history, and excellent coffee and food. The cheaper mid-tier hotels on the Hoia River were wonderful with delicious traditional Vietnamese breakfast. Renting old bicycles for a few bucks a day and riding through the rice paddies and then visiting the silk village was exhilarating. Acadia National Park in Maine- If you like hiking and lobster, you can't beat it. If you are a good hiker, you can pick tougher trails and avoid the crowds. Way better summer temps than places like Yellowstone, too. Greece - Athens is a pretty modern city now and the Parthenon's exterior scaffolding was removed last year so the experience is amazing. Plenty of beautiful islands to fit your tastes (particularly Naxos), but the mainland Peloponnese is still the most authentic experience. Get a good rental car and get lost driving around to places like Nafplion, Olympia, Monemvasia, Epidavros, etc. Outside of Athens and tourist hot spots, it will be way cheaper than you would expect.

With posting fee, they note total outlay of 85 million. He would interest me.
  14. The MLBPA already shot that idea down.
  15. One factoid today: November 4, 1965 – “The Senor,” manager Al Lopez, resigned his position with the White Sox for health reasons. Perhaps the greatest manager in franchise history, Lopez had nine winning seasons in his nine full-time years as field manager. He won the 1959 American League pennant and was coming off of back-to-back-to-back 90 or more-win seasons in 1963, 1964 and 1965. The Sox averaged 96 wins a season during that time span. His 840 wins are second most in team history. He returned to manage for parts of the 1968 and 1969 seasons.
  16. I like Leila to be honest. Don’t like Payton and Haugh. Score needs to bring in new talent to mix with their current roster, not recycle friends and family of the program though. a Tyler Aoki or Shea Norling would do wonders for them.
  17. At first, I was sure he was just angry and bitter and perhaps scared because he really really really doesn't want the Sox to move to the South Loop and he's lashing out at Ishbia because, unlike Jerry, he actually has the wealth to make this happen. But, I'm coming around to the idea that he's indeed just trolling us. I mean, much of the stuff he's spouting is so comically over the top and detached from facts that I think @ron883 is right....he's just playing us. And to be clear, fans can legitimately have the opinion that the Sox should stay at Rate Field or at least at the current site permanently and there are pros and cons to each option. But that's not what's going on here. It's just one angry gaslighting post after another with nothing insightful being said whatsoever. So, I'm leaning toward the "he's a troll" camp now.
  18. Not to be confused with bench coach W.McKinven (came from MIL) also drawing interest from other teams around the league...
  19. Unfortunately, Jerry hasn’t sold the team yet so he is still responsible for the payroll this offseason.
  20. "The main question is whether the weaker position player class means that Sato can get to six years and/or $25 million in AAV; I have him just missing both, but wouldn't rule out him reaching both. This contract would mean the signing team sends $19.125 million in posting fees to Hanshin, making a full outplay of just over $134 million. My guess is the upper range for Sato is the full outlay of Kyle Schwarber's $150 million deal from last winter; Schwarber is a very proven player and a similar type, even though he hit the market for his age-33 season compared with Sato before his age-28 season." Seem to be moving off 3B for Sato to RF LF 1B DH. Taira because of his size and durability concerns is going to be fascinating...$72.5 million would be just under biggest Sox contract to Beni
  21. Have had that same projection up for a month or more "So does Tuesday's news mean anything? Not really, considering how much the cap remains a nonstarter for the union. Above all else, this latest proposal is a sign that the league is attempting to shift conversations about the cap from the theoretical to the actual. MLB's openness to delaying the cap is a recognition of the inevitable logistical conundrum that rolling out a new system would cause." yahoo.com/sports
  22. Not even Thanos Musk Zuck Bezos Ricketts Soros Bloomberg Thiel Ellisons can stop the Ishbias!!! They are simultaneously invincible omniscient and irrepressible.
  23. Perhaps they're looking for people a bit more youthful (no offense).
  24. The only way to find out is to not respond, sadly, which takes away from the entertainment.
