  1. Past hour

  2. He's gotta be closer to 4 fWAR now after tonight.
  3. Surprised the horseshoe has lasted that long up there
  4. Is the magic number to clinch a playoff spot 24? It seems to me the Rangers are the team to compute that against and we hold the tie-breaker against them.
  5. And they took on money. They weren't spending prospects. Different thing.
  6. I enjoy reading game threads after an easy win. Lots of unintentional humor.
  7. Yeah, that's why I wanted him to finish the game. SoxTalk was going nuts about yanking him with a 6 run lead lol.
  8. Money that could have been earned through ticket sales, parking, concessions, merchandise and advertising. Remember we are talking about JR here and what matters most to him are finances. No games played means he can't MAKE money. Plus if there is a long impasse or God forbid basically no season, teams won't be allowed to do anything anyway as long as an agreement isn't reached.
  9. Twins just lost to the A's.
  10. Isn’t Cannon a starter? He can go three innings and more than 55 pitches.
  11. There's only two...Bonemer and Cholowsky. Three if you want to be generous with Carlson.
  12. And they took on quite a bit of money in the Castillo trade.
  13. He doesn’t pay the players if there is a labor impasse. He’s been gifted a dirt cheap lease arrangement for his stadium. What is all the cost he has to endure if there is a long lockout?
  14. Even with the starting pitching woes, the offense should get them playing .500 the rest of the way which should be enough to get that last wildcard even if Cleveland catches us. But I still think if we win one of the three games in Cleveland and thus have the tie breaker, we win the division.
  15. I don’t understand these payroll doomer posts. Jerry has almost always rocked mid tier payrolls when semi competitive. When we were actual contenders, we rocked very higher payrolls. How we spent that money sucked, but the reality is he isn’t nearly as cheap in terms of absolute dollars as some here let on. The Sox are sitting on a projected $98M payroll for next year. That’s for 26 dudes included all Arb eligible guys. The median Opening Day payroll in the MLB this year was $170M. I’d be SHOCKED if we were below $150M next year and in a normal year we’d be at the median. Regardless, $50M can get you two SPs including one legit TOR guy plus bring back Newcomb & Grichuk (or replace them with comparable talents). There will be at least one big free agent added next year…no doubt about it.
  16. Tristan Peters heard Caleb Bonemer was playing CF and decided to ascend to new heights.
  17. On paper...absolutely yes. In reality, with JR and the possibility of a very long labor impasse? Reality may prove to show something else.
  18. Replaced Brazoban who went on the IL
  19. 6 was the resistance point before this. About time the baseball gods let us get to 8 over.
  20. "If" is the biggest little word in the world. You can't ask for a better response than what the Sox did tonight but the starting pitching has almost completely flushed itself down the toilet. Burke has fallen off a cliff, Martin has gone right down the toilet, Castillo appears to be toast. I don't know what the hell they are going to do the final month. Maybe finally getting a day off, even though they have to travel to Minnesota may help. God I hope to hell so!
  21. Just a great game. Who did Cannon displace on the 26 man? Glad he settled down...he should be able to be a usable reliever. Just throw strikes.
