I don’t see the Sox extending any player now, that they already have future control over. And they are also seeking a value deal with Mune

While we might not think they have that great of a chance, the amazing thing is, they believe they can win. With nothing to back it, I'm believing they win a playoff series. I also believe this could be our 1969.

If all these dudes pan out, that could be the best lineup since the 2000 team. However, Antonacci on the bench is as painful as it is good, even though I realize he would be in a Ben Zobrist role and get a lot of starts. He deserves to be a starter somewhere.

So do you want to give Colson Montgomery an extension now? For how much? In the first half of the season, he was a Top 5 milb SS. Now he's seemingly replaceable. If Murakami hadn't gotten hurt and now had 45+ homers with a .240+ average...what would the extension numbers be? Well, currently he's a player who has had major injuries two seasons in a row. You also have to weigh his relative performance vs. Vargas, signing a Top FA pitcher, etc. The Sox are not suddenly SD that had 9 $100+ million contracts on the books simultaneously. They can't just throw money at everyone. And they also have Bonemer and Cholowsky coming on offense. Not to mention their best defensive IF is with Vargas at first...so how much is any full time DH not named Yordan Alvarez or Ohtani actually worth? OFC, Murakami's in his prime and comes with loads of marketing potential attached. So just like a stock rises and falls in value...so does a player's future value. That there's not a complicated MIT Cal Tech AI-driven valuation formula that provides a precise number doesn't mean the Sox front office doesn't have a constantly evolving number for how much he's worth to the franchise. And it's STILLcomplicated...because 29 other teams miscalculated his actual value and looked like idiots the first half of the season.

I'm not a big fan of the twins. I'd probably rank annoyance level as Tribe, Twins, Kittens, Royals.

They will as most of the population is in that part of Tampa Bay and lot easier to get to than St. Pete and the Trop. After the the magnetism of the new stadium wears off they will probably draw somewhere around 1.6 million a year, maybe 2 million with a good team in a pennant race.

Not sure fondly is the right word for most of the 70s and 80s. As a Sox fan, it was "our" stadium, but it never became part of the national fabric like Fenway, Yankee, Wrigley, Dodger Stadium etc. I guess it is a totally different feeling for those who grew up in the 50s and 60s, when there were so many competitive Sox teams.

We’re down to the final 30ish games of the season. Every game counts, including those for the teams we are fighting against. Right now, discussions of Cleveland scores appear in various threads. Let’s keep them in one place. Obviously, Cleveland is the team we care about most, but Texas/Houston games are huge as well if we can hang on in the division. Let’s get that 2 seed.

Given Comiskey's historical impact on the franchise and how fondly people remember the place, I think the Sox would be crazy if they went with a "post-retro", modern looking design for a new stadium like in Tampa and Vegas. It's not like they'd be trying to manufacture a retro look out of whole cloth that could come off as inauthentic. That's not to say it would be a Comiskey clone, including things that absolutely would not work today, of course. I suppose with the Royals, almost their entire history has been in Kauffman (all but their first 4 seasons), so maybe that's why they seem to be going with a similar look for their proposed new stadium. That being said, hopefully Amtrak and Canal Edge are working on addressing neighborhood concerns and ways to mitigate the impact of moving the maintenance yard to Bridgeport if they don't want to see their project delayed or shot down.
