I’m not arguing your point, but I think it can be assumed that Bannister talks to Getz and makes suggestions on pitchers that he would like to work with or that he thinks he can makes some tweaks to improve their game, if they were acquired.

No, Getz's job is to manage the interaction between scouting and development. It's shorthand to say that "Banny's got a type". Sorry if that confuses you. I would imagine scouting and "Banny" are on the same page in that the scouts already know what our developmental strengths and preferences are, and they're making sure dudes look healthy and as advertised. There are entire departments that run numbers on everyone in the league, and asst-GMs who get all the trade talk started. Getz delegates. That's how he ends up announcing that Acuña's a switch hitter. Seriously, if you think that Chris Getz is sitting in the stands of a game in Rancho Cucamonga with a radar gun, you're not even clearing the low bar you've established for your posts.

Who gives a s%*# who gets the "credit". From what we've been told or has leaked Getz's biggest strength is not worrying about credit and simply letting his folks get the job done to the best of their abilities. If Bannister isn't getting it down, he'll be replaced sooner or later. For now it's a moot point. He's not getting let go during the home stretch here and he will have input.

I've said this before, but Bannisters job is to develop arms. Getz job is to identify talent that aligns with Bannister's strengths, not to have Bannister tell him who to acquire. Bannister isn't in the talent identification game, he's in the talent development game. Those two things are different skills IMO. Let's properly distribute credit and blame where it aligns.

I thought it was blasphemy but someone else said it too in another minor league game thread: it's a very Mike Trout swing. I see he also has 3 SB in AA so far. Hopefully indicates he's athletic enough to handle a corner OF if it comes to that.

I’m really tired of lineups that don’t include Sam and Colson in them. Both of those guys are everyday players in my book. Grich, Acuna, and Everson… prove me wrong!

Colson is one of our best hitters against LHP and is a top 8 SS in the game at 24 with one year experience. Nobody is trading him, including the WS, because you might have Roch in 2028.

That's fine if you want to trade him after his arb years are up, but I want his elite value in those years. There's no guarantee Bonemer does anything at the MLB level, I'm not banking on that and would much rather trade him than Colson, who we already know is a top 5 SS in the sport.

Well, I assume Getz is acquiring pitchers that Bannister suggests to him. In any case, I have a feeling no one is going to be very happy with the scrubs Getz manages to acquire by the deadline. Prices are too high.

Why do you claim that Bannister is acquiring pitchers? Getz is acquiring pitchers. Thats his job.

Lauer was literally released this year. He's old and washed. This wouldnt even be an improvement. It would be like adding another Fedde.

@Bad Hombre correctly points out that we already have that guy. Lauer's certainly a fallback arm in case prices spike, and he bumps Schultz.

Lauer was pretty good last year, but he's giving up 2 HR/9 this year.

Yeah, I think Getz acquires all the stuff they're saying he's going to, but it's all going to inspire "who dat?" responses. I think the leaks about the Sox being aggressive are meant to temper mid-dude asks. "You want Bonemer for Detmers? If I was going to trade Bonemer, I could have Skubal."

Well, it ties into Banny's philosophy - strikeouts cost money. That's a very cheap guy who throws ground balls. Not saying I want him, but Banny's got a type.

Angels send us 75 million and Mike Trout for some A ballers. Who says no? Could be similar to the Rios move in impact. 75 million takes his AAV to roughly 19 million for the Sox, that's more than affordable.
