White Sox asking for "top prospects" for Robert
WestEddy replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
1) Bos, 2) Cubs, 3) Mets, 4) Phi I wanted the Sox to draft B. Monty, but there's murmurs about Mayer staying healthy. Caissie is a savage, no? I like the quantity from the Mets over Crawford's lack of power. -
Oh!! Oh!! Ooooooohhhhh!!! I know this one. NOBODY. If Robert's traded and Benny's moved to DH, they have 3 OF spots to cover. As you correctly inferred, Fletcher, Colas and DeLoach will not be the title of the hit song about the White Sox 5-Championships-in-a-row dynasty. Zavala and Wolkow might be longshots at being prospects in a couple years. Most of the 2027 starting OF isn't even in the organization, yet.

You should look into getting a better mattress. You seem tired and cranky.
-
I'm stanning for logic and common sense. Perhaps they should extend Benintendi so the Sox could prove to smart, sensible people like you that they're trying oh so hard to win. I'm not embarrassed. Perhaps you should be discussing the shame you feel over a baseball team with a professional.

Especially when you pretend to be quoting somebody. I hope you don't smoke. You're house would go up in a minute with all these strawmen lying around.

Maybe follow the string? Caulfield was making the point that the Severino signing shames the White Sox because even the As are investing in their team. The appearance is that the As are only spending because they're trying to avoid a grievance. The White Sox are in a rebuild. I guess the Sox should have thrown 6/120 at Tauchman so that everyone could rejoice that the Sox finally signed somebody to a contract over $100 million. LOL.
-
Too many white players. That's a take.
-
And here's another angle of what I was arguing. The As have to spend because of revenue sharing. They received $70m, so they have to spend above $100m. That's the microscope. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/12/athletics-risk-mlbpa-grievance-without-further-payroll-increases.html

And do you think the Yankees/Braves/Brewers fall just behind the Reds' level? -

The MLB top 100 engine is a little wonky right now. A lot of player slots have their schools slotted in for team, so they're not showing up in team lists of top 100 players. -

The Brewers do have the first Comp Balance Round A pick. -
And it's not just "Soto-type deals" that will dig us out of the current situation. It's creating a pipeline of talent that can be supplemented.

I can see Dick Allen not impressing as a HOF player. His career was shortened by wear and tear. His 1972 was one of the great seasons. He came 6 hits from winning the triple crown. One squib single every 3 weeks.

Dude, you said that "basically everyone" that comes out of the minor league system has attitude problems. Now you're tapdancing. You named four guys, one who is immature (Anderson), one a head case (Kopech), I have no idea how Rodon is a clubhouse cancer, and Colas. That seems far short of "basically everyone", but hey, keep going. This is getting funnier. -

And Chris Getz made him annoying. He also makes bread go moldy. I guess Chris Getz must be doing a great job, now, if we have to make up BS to blame him for. LOL. -

This is ridiculous. -

But we are talking about drafting and developing right now. The Yankees don't purposefully draft badly, then refrain from developing their prospects because they know they'll just shell out money for free agents. That's absurd. Your assertions were that draft picks made over a decade ago have direct bearing on how our current front office and player development setup do their jobs. "Historically" doesn't matter. I picked a team that has "historically" had the ever lovin' feces hyped out of their farm system, and their players failed, probably at the same rate as everyone else's. The Sox have made big changes in personnel, resources and approach to their minor league system. Whether it works or not remains to be seen. It's lazy to keep falling back on "dumpster diving" or pretending that Chris Getz has always been the White Sox GM. If prospect development doesn't matter to you, then I don't see why you keep clocking in on how bad the current 16 month old regime is so bad at it, especially when you only argue about a guy drafted 7 years ago.

I hope this is how Getz envisions "forcing Benintendi into a Crochet deal". I could deal with foregoing a lesser piece if the return is 2 awesome prospects and taking on $9 million net Benintendi. I still don't think there should be any urgency to get rid of Benny's contract beyond freeing up LF for prospect churn. -
I do remember Jay-Gone being the best hitter on the board at the time of the pick, albeit with the lowest ceiling. Point taken.
