Yeah and putting the extra fluff in there with the options and stuff to make it appear to be the top offer even though the guaranteed money was 50m short was just to give the team PR cover. In the end it was a blessing in disguise because Moncada looks awesome at 3B and his long term deal is a much better one for us than Machado's.

I doubt that will be a factor if we have the top deal. They can afford to spend an extra 2-3m on Joc if they aren't gonna be swimming in the adult pool anyway. Seriously if they can't even win on a player who is like a 2 yr/20-22m player there's no point to anything anymore.

Yeah thats the problem. Otherwise I'd be thrilled with Pederson and Schwarber in a division full of righties, but I don't think he will sign here since Vaughn could eventually significantly cut into his opportunities to rebuild his value and the agent isn't gonna want to mess with that.

It would be a platoon but a much better platoon than we have had. Let's get the Joc deal done. RH knows JR cannot and will not even try to win a bidding against Cohen so let's secure Joc so we can keep any trade asset and budget powder we have dry for a SP, rather than having to move an actual asset for a RF if we lose out on Joc too.

If it looks unlikely on the Springer front, they should just get the Joc deal done now because his cost will only go up once he becomes the best remaining option left on the market after Springer formally signs.

Murkowski is a candidate to flip since she would have a tough time winning her primary in 2022. On the other hand she has won before as an independent after losing the primary and the ranked choice voting that passed in Alaska might help her too.

I agree. Get Joc for 1-2 years. Pair him up with Engel or Leury and the put most of your chips into the middle of the table for pitching.
