I was hoping with that extra day off Eloy would be in the lineup, even at DH, but guess not. -
Why does the site matter? The issue is they don't want to play a team that just had like a dozen guys test positive within that same week. It doesn't matter if it's in Miami, Washington, Medicine Hat (Alberta) or Kandahar. The optics are impossible for MLB. You can't have a team voting no after half the other squad testing positive and mlb forcing them to play against some scrub taxi squad. The PR outrage would be impossible to handle and for good reason. The league is backed into a corner now.

Eloy out....not surprised...hopefully not too long because usually when he is out for a bit it takes him some time to get going when he's back at the plate. -

SD also underperformed last year compared to expectations. Perhaps he should have been hitting 4th. -

I understand Grandal at 1 based on the principle that OBP is most important there but since the leadoff usually comes to the plate with the fewest folks on base, wouldn't it be a waste of his power? Leadoff should be high OBP and low power which incidentally would rule out Robert as well despite his liking for that spot. Grandal at 1 would also mean back to back lefties which would then leave us like with 5 righties in a row and that could be a problem with a righty killer on the mound. The only person that potentially fits the bill is Madrigal but that would require him to consistently hit .310 in order to get to an OBP of around .360 or .370. If he has no power at all eventually teams will play with 5 IFers and only 2 OFers in order to snuff out all his soft contact in which case you can forget about a .310 average. Hes gonna have to hit some doubles in the gap to force people to play him honestly. -
I think we will be ok with Giolito-DK-Cease-Rodon-Dunning. That should be a middle of the league staff for 2020 and with our offense an average staff should be sufficient for wild card.

I was reading that HotStoveIntel dude on Twitter and maybe I was reading it wrong but he implied the Twins were on roids "Nelson Cruz refuses to age, I wonder why?" -
Hopefully he only sits out tomorrow's game.

I agree that Kopech opting out really hurts because he could easily be the ace here (even over Giolito). Its not that the expectation was they'd win the division over MIN the expectation was we wouldn't get totally THROTTLED by them twice in three games at home. If we lose we lose i get it thats prolly the best opponent all year but they shouldn't be getting beat down by them. The gap shouldn't be massive. Also it is reasonable for fans to expect the manager to make at least a halfway decent effort at trying to win the game. Not putting all righties in against a righty killer. Not giving our best LHH option a day off when at the least he can DH. Not being apparently oblivious to our opponents changes in SP and not putting a AAA player in the 2 hole. These are basic and reasonable expectations for a fan base to have. -

If that was their plan....they thought wrong. There's no more excuses. There's no more waiting. Theres a 16 team tournament and only 24 teams are trying to win so it will be a failure of BIBLICAL proportions if they don't make the playoffs this year when they have tons of games against trash teams like KC and DET. No one is saying they should win the division over MINN. But we absolutely should get into the playoffs. They have had several years to build and/or purchase a competent rotation. If ReyLo is a bust there should be reasonable alternatives by this point. IDGAF what they say. Hahn's excuses aren't worth a pitcher of warm spit. Make the playoffs or GTFO. -

Insofar as the rotation goes, Cease should be No. 3, Rodon 4 and bring Dunning up to be the 5. ReyLo can pitch out of the pen in the 8th when we are up by at least 6+ runs. -

I think he is going to get shelled and putting forth a lineup full of righties against a righty killer is beyond stupid. Taking our best lefty hitter in Yoan out is also stupid. If he needs a rest in the field, put him at DH and have Encarnacion play 1st since Jose hasn't done anything. -

Doesn't it have to be one catcher, one pitcher and one non catcher position player? I would assume Madrigal and Dunning. -
