Yep. 3/55 is very good value....now put the other 70m that was gonna go to Wheeler for extensions for core talent. Good job RH. -
Grandal just lost some value.
-
Please don't go to 4 years on DK.
-
Kinander suggested Ryu and Puig....I'm not sure if he was implying anything or just making his own recommendations, it read like the latter.
-
Yeah it makes zero sense at all. What we need is a TOR pitcher. If you are gonna move assets you move them for that piece not a SS who is neither cost controlled not on a long term deal. Even if TA's numbers regress to 3 WAR, he is making a little over 9m a year for a long time. Still much better value.
-
Yeah I don't think he'd be saying that about a minor move. He didn't say the Angels making a move when they signed Teheran.
-
Forget Lindor.....if CLE likes Thompson so much send him and Stiever and maybe take a bad contract back for Clevinger. Don't fix something thats not broken.
-
Good signing as the No. 5 guy. If they really are making a trade with CLE using Madrigal, I hope it's Clevinger not Lindor.
-
If you are gonna trade Madrigal which is dumb to begin with, it has to address pitching. Instead of trading why don't we just spend for once
-
Why would we want lindor for two years when we still don't have pitching? That would be a horrible trade. Get some damn pitchers. I would be fuming if we traded Madrigal for two years of Lindor.
-
Im assuming it's for a pitcher?

Eno Sarris Biggest Remaining MLB Needs And How To Fill Them - CWS

That Snell contract would be so perfect for our window. Vaughn + Stiever (or Dunning) I'd do but NOT Vaughn + Madrigal. -
Eno Sarris Biggest Remaining MLB Needs And How To Fill Them - CWS
SoCalChiSox replied to BFirebird's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yep, plus demand for even halfway decent SP is currently far outstripping supply so Boras is in a good position to wait teams out. The whole problem is that 4th year. -
Why would we give up Madrigal for Price and Benintendi when: a) Price is 34 and projected to provide about 2 WAR a year on a contract worth approximately 60 million in negative value and Benintendi isn't worth 60 million in surplus value the next three years? b) We already obtained another LH OF. c) We are sitting on piles of money so why not spend it instead of sacrifing key pieces of the rebuild?
-
I'm not giving up Vaughn and Madrigal for Blake Snell or Mike Clevinger so if they both got dealt for Price, Nintendo and some cash I will literally be rooting for the entire FO to burn in hell.
-
Price is trash. Why would I pay 4/80 for a 2.5 win pitcher in Keuchel who will soon be a 2 win pitcher when the FO has had years to figure out how to add a No. 2 pitcher in 2020? Wood is fine as a 5. Adding Keuchel and Wood doesn't get us from .500 to 90 wins and neither does EE. And IDGAF about the Twins. They just had a 103 win season so they are entitled to some wiggle room by their fans to see how they adjust. Our FO isn't entitled to anything.
-
I'm not saying he leaked it. I'm just expressing frustration that now agents seem to know they have us cornered and we are left with the unpalatable option of having to overpay for flawed players that no one is truly excited about, give up key fruits of the rebuild for a pitcher which would be horrific or trade for overpaid and over the hill pitchers which would also be very sub optimal, or waiving the white flag on the first the prime year of the window, which is not acceptable. One would think an FO so smug and arrogant would come up with a better solution than these and I'm expecting that. Prove me wrong, Rick. Show me the true No. 2 pitcher you are gonna get without giving up any prime player assets. I'm waiting with baited breath for your superior intellect to show itself.
-
Nice work, Rick.

Boom!

Yes, I'd be SEETHING if nothing happened and we went into ST as is. The Sox should be using their low payroll to take a bad contract off someone's hands in exchange for a good young SP under control for many years. Or a three team deal where we take a bad contract off someone's ands, said someone sends good prospects to another team and the other team sends us the good young 2/3.
-
A trade with BOS for Price only would be a garbage result. Signing Keuchel as our primary SP signing would be a garbage result. Being forced to give Ryu a 4 year deal because of poor planning and execution would be a garbage result. Trading away key prospects or key pieces for a SP when we have tons of cash would be a garbage result. Signing two Wood/Nova types on one year deals and extinguishing the 2020 season before it begins despite us having suffered for years and been told lies about spending would be a garbage result. I will be absolutely SEETHING if any of these 5 things come to pass.

My favorites were M. Bison and Blanka in SF2.
-
In fairness, Hahn did say they work better below the radar so I think they are trying to keep a low profile. At the end of the winter meetings he said they were gonna get something done in the "next couple of weeks, hopefully sooner rather than later"...so I expect something before Christmas.
-
Can we at least lockdown Wood so this isn't a complete disaster when Hahn balks at 4/80 for Keuchel?
