Does Getz understand that slap hitting Limp Dick bats are not what corner OFers are supposed to be? Asking for a friend. At least he's left handed and did damage against RHP in a limited sample size last year, although he's FAR from a savage. Or maybe the plan is for him to hold down the strongside of the platoon in RF this year and then move him to CF after Robert is traded since he's a glove first player? Does anyone know the scouting report on him as a CF? I still want Lazaro Montes in a SEA trade to serve the savage role, because somewhere at some point, someone in the lineup (esp post Robert) has to strike fear into the pitcher.

When I saw Mariners in the thread title, I immediately thought of Lazaro Montes the LHS...damn. Maybe we will still get him in the Cease trade. And yes I know his profile isn't something Getz likes and No...I don't care.

There's no way they can commit to spending when they spent 180m plus two years in a row (alot for JR and his partners based on history), got little attendance and even less playoff TV money in response, and also allegedly had some losses during COVID. JR was likely taking heat from the partners about the need for some profits so they were always going to financially reset if/when it was clear the rebuild failed. They got almost no ROI for what they spent from 2020-2023. They are going to get some ROI now because of 60m cut in payroll.

So then you actually agree with us that Cease is worth two Top 100 talents+? Because Kjerstad/Cowser is one, Ortiz is another (borderline), and your boy Hall is valued like a Top 100 in terms of SV on BTV. If we take out the 4m for the draft pick and add back in Cowser or Kjerstad (17-20m), that's a net addition of around 14m, so instead of 36m and change, you are proposing BAL to pay us 50m for Cease. I'm glad you are agreeing that we were right with our valuations, aly.

Eh...with BAL getting stronger, Boras has more leverage to force a longer commitment from NYY. Hal doesn't want another bad contract like Rodon. We need him to lean on Cashman a little bit.

I would love this trade. The SV for the above is 54m vs Cease's 42m. Even a 10% pitching premium only gets us to about 46-47m. Perhaps the other 8m will be the Cashman doesn't want to get fired premium.

For one year of Burnes, BAL paid the following in SV per BTV: 4m (pick), 18.9m (Hall), and 13.6m (Ortiz). Total: 36.5m Burnes value for that one year is 33.3....so BAL paid a premium of about 10% for pitching. BTV has Cease at 42m....a 10% premium would mean about 46m in SV should be the return or almost exactly Woo, Montes and Clase (49m) from SEA, hypothetically.

SEA would be giving up 49m for 42m so it's actually pretty fair given the SP premium. Clase is Robert's replacement in 25 if they move him next year and Montes could also see the big club sometime in late 25.

I dont think Colas is finished. His projection was 50 hit/60 power he can still get there, he had a bad year and wasn't ready. He needs to get out of Grifols doghouse, put in the time in AAA to work on the things Getz etc told him to work on and hopefully in a couple months we will see what he can do. I still want Montes in a SEA trade regardless of the risk. He destroyed Low A as an 18 year old (994 OPS) 3 years younger than his level. Bring me the young left handed savage with extreme power. Dude could get to the majors before the end of 2025.

If we trade with SEA, I want Lazaro Montes in the package. He could be a monster LHS in a couple years.

Why would we want Foscue? RH 2B that's a butcher that can only hit for avg.....what am I missing here? If they are gonna go SP plus one positional piece, it would be a disaster of biblical proportions for Getz to accept a RH hitter that is also a butcher as the position piece. If Getz is going to suddenly be OK with butchers, at least get a LHS. I mean if that's the case, they should have gotten Busch plus one of the LAD pitching prospects.

I hope so too but there's 0% chance that happens. There is no way the league will permit SF to win. Just like last year the Eagles were kicking the s%*# out of the Chiefs and then magically the most fearsome DL in the league somehow couldn't get to a one legged Mahomes. This is no different than the WWE.
