  1. Or here's a crazy thought: you root for the Sox to win because you enjoy watching the Sox win games. And hope that management doesn't trade away all the good players so they can continue to have a solid chance to win.
  2. That out at 3rd was an example of how this year's team is different from last year's team. No way last year's team would have gotten that out. Either Grandal would have been asleep and not seen it. Or whoever was the pitcher would have not have stepped off the mound correctly and quickly enough. Or the 3rd basemen, Yoan or whover, would not have been there or been able to make the catch and tag Somewhere along the way, something would have broken down last year, probably in a couple places.
  3. Yes, he was being one, wasn't he? Now all he has to do is post about 15 negative comments on this thread alone, and he'll be up there with you.
  4. Wow, what a surprise that Lipman and and 2023 would disagree with greg775's optimism or any sort of optimistic outlook. I really am shocked. Of course they both want all the good players, or even anyone close, traded away so they can continue to be a total dump fest on the Sox this year. Pretty soon hibiscus will join them and we'll have all three of three of them trashing the Sox. Maybe we'll be lucky and one of them will go with the poop emoji again. I know I can't wait. But back on greg's post: All of a sudden, with this starting staff, I think .500 or close is very possible. That's kind of the point of my post yesterday about how I feel more confident about beating Houston now than that playoff team in 2021. (But I realize Houston is down now, too.) Now two huge ifs with that. 1) Key people can't get hurt, especially pitchers, and . . . We can NOT, not, not trade away of our good players, especially our excellent young pitchers; but really, Sox can't afford to trade anyone of value and expect to chase .500 the rest of the way, the talent on this team is too, too thin. I agree with what someone (was it greg) said yesterday: if we keep this starting pitching, get some decent relievers, and a couple bats; Sox can go .500 next year and try to win the division. Sorry big three complainers, I have to try to counterbalance your pessimism.
  5. Does anybody agree with this thought? With tonight's lineup (probably as good as we can do) and the way Houston is somewhat struggling/ underachieving at this time, if the Sox threw the right pitcher (Crochet or Fedde), I think the Sox have a better chance of winning down in Houston now, than they did in the playoffs three years ago. Three years ago, we didn't have a starter during the playoffs who was pitching close to as well as Fedde and Crochet are throwing right now. And just my memory of those playoffs, but I just felt the Sox were completely overmatched during that series, even at the Rate, that the odds of they winning any of those games just seemed very small. Yes, they did win one game, but had to score 12 runs to do it. It's kind of a statement about how important starting pitching really is. Even as terrible as this present Sox team is, with the right starters (as opposed to what the Sox had in the playoffs three years ago), it just seems they have a better chance to win down there now, then the playoff team of three years ago.
  6. I agree with this guy 100%. I say this over and over here. Let's keep our nice things. I kind of cracks me up that people say we only have 2 1/2 year of control of Crochet. What a wonderful 2 1/2 years that will be watching him throw strike out after strike out in a Sox uniform. Absolutely let's keep him and Fedde too.
  7. I'm not done complaining about Vaughn. He has to be leading the Sox in bailing out opposing pitchers. That was a perfect example just now. Every time there's people on base with less than two out, he pops up, or strikes out, or hits into the DP. Andrew Vaughn, far and away, more than any other White Sox player is responsible for this terrible team, this terrible season. He is the single WORST player on a team of terrible players. DFA him!!!
  8. DFA Vaughn after this game. I used to be in his corner, but I can't stand him. Get rid of him!!!!
  9. I agree. I don't think it is/ was Pedro's call that he's starting these games. Why would you bring up a guy who was bad in AAA. Just filling in starts. What's kind of frustrating is that I think that the Jays, if the Sox started a real pitcher, could beat at home.
  10. Okay . . . fix it. Who is less bad that you pitch in the 8th. Who is that shut down guy to get it to the 9th? Give me that name in the bullpen who would be less bad? Not even better, just less bad? Who do you bat that is going to change the lineup and hit with either power or get on base to have bat at 2, 3, or 4th. Look down that dug out bench and tell me? Now be serious with me. Do really think it is up to Pedro that Maldonado and Benintendi are both playing, especially Maldonado? I think Pedro is being forced to play those two (or it is strongly suggested to him from up above) to justify their salaries. I think it was exactly like that when Yonder Alonso was grounding out every at bat when he was with the Sox. I can't believe any manager, if the choice were up to him, who ever wanted to win would be writing Maldonado (or Alonso's name) in the line up card. Do you really think that Pedro wants to be pitching Nastrini today? I don't for a second believe that bringing Nastrini up and starting him was up to Pedro.
  11. Agree with this 100%. The people who come on this forum and literally post 50 or more times a week something along the lines of "Fire Pedro" (You know like the guy that started this thread), I don't understand them. What can he possibly do? People post this quote or that quote by Pedro and make fun of him. Again, what can he say? He has to talk to the media. How many different ways can a guy say our talent is awful without coming out and saying our talent is awful. What bullpen moves should he be making. How do you fix a batting order that is made up of four or five guys who were released by other teams last year, and two guys you were depending on have completely forgotten (if they every knew) how to bat. Your three most talented guys are out with injuries. What can he do? But you four or five posters (you know who you are), just keep posting six or seven times a day how he needs to be fired.
  12. Actually, I think Flexen pitched rather well. Two of the three hits that scored the 1st two runs were total BS luck hits. And the two home runs would have been fly outs in any other parks in the MLB. I don't think Judge's would even make it to the warning track in many MLB parks.
  13. I been lucky enough to watch five straight wins. I watched the Sunday win over St. Louis. I was busy both Monday and Tuesday nights, so never had a chance to watch those losses. But was back in front of the TV for the final win against TB. And now I've been able to watch the last three wins against Cleveland. I can't remember the last time I've had so much fun being a White Sox fan.
  14. Or you could logically have Feede help the Sox win games all through this year, and help the Sox win games all through the 25 season, and then worry about 26 and resigning him in the winter after 25. Why can't we enjoy winning now? Get the best possible players you can get and play them and try to win games. This sounds logical to me: Try to win the next game. Hasn't this week of winning the St. Louis series been fun, split the road trip, and now win three in a row from Cleveland been fun? Let's keep all of our good players and keep winning and worry about the future when it gets here.
  15. Yes, some sort of Cheap vet . . . . I know, like Fedde. Let's keep our nice things. Why give them away?
  16. This is 100% accurate, why I am soooo glad Bummer is gone.
  17. I was trying to be witty, funny, the bon mot . . . obviously it didn't work with you for some reason . . .
  18. What is wrong with what Pedro said? What is he supposed to do? I have to believe that what he said in this quote is completely true. You find these quotes and it's just another excuse to complain and get across the message to "fire Pedro". Should he flip over a table and scream at the players? Would that work? Can he do the thing in Bull Durham and throw bats in the shower and yell at the players? Would that help? Are you saying Pedro should being doing that sort of thing? If not, why attack this quote? He has to talk to the press and he has to say something. Realistically, what can he say? I said it about a three weeks ago, and I'm saying it again: I'm a fan of the Sox, just like you are, and I understand your frustration and anger. But I don't understand the point of literally (in various formats) of writing "Fire Pedro" over 50 times a week. And over 50 times a week is not, in anyway, an exaggeration for a few on this board.
  19. I don't understand this at all, at all. I want the Sox to win. I want them to win the game I am watching right now, today. Would I like to see a winning Sox team with all young studs who are signed for years and know the winning is going to continue? YES! Of course. But when I turn on a game to watch or I'm there, I want the best possible players the Sox can put on the field at that time. I want the Sox manager and management to do everything they can to win that game, that day. I don't care if the players are 32 or 22. I want the Sox to win. I am happy when they win and unhappy when they lose. So, yes, this weekend was great. I hope they can do it again through the week and into next weekend. I just want the Sox to win. Do I understand the need to trade away older players to get younger players and build for the future? Yes, of course. But if a the Sox have a guy who is 33 who can play clearly better than someone who is at Charlotte and 23, play the better player, whatever his age, as long as you have him. Make that young guy at Charlotte become better than that 33 year old. But I am a White Sox fan, I am going to wear my White Sox year and watch the game, whether they win 50 game or 100 games.
  20. Benitendi's and Vaughn's terrible starts are more than anything else (we expected the big three to be injured or at least I did) responsible for the completely terrible record the Sox have right now. If both of their results/ stats were only below average, the Sox would have 2 or 3 more wins, but they have both be absolutely pathetic, just pathetic. Both batting, more or less, 100 points below their career BAs. I am completely stumped by Vaughn. Does he lift the ball EVER?? I've watched probably 35% of the total innings the Sox have played this year. I only remember ONCE all this year that I've been watching where he flew out to an outfielder, ONCE in my memory this year. All he hits are line drives and ground balls, ground balls that become double plays, time after time after time after time. I defended Vaughn on this board this winter, but Jesus, he's making me look stupid. I mean, eventually Vaughn and Benitendi have to pull it together and become major league hitters? Don't they?
  21. Back on the original topic of bright spots and this was mentioned here somewhere: but the Mena for Fletcher trade is starting to look pretty good. If Fletcher can just keep doing what he's be doing: lefty bat, hitting .250 (or hopefully better), and throwing guys out at 3rd (I've seen two already, are there more?), the White Sox will be in better shape in RF than I can remember, in at least 7 or 8 years.
  22. I understand that people are angry with the White Sox organization and Grifol, but I don't start to understand how people can be blaming Grifol for these injuries. All three of these were continually injured for the two or three years before Grifol became manager. Moncada and Eloy certainly and Robert a ton in the minors and his first year. Does Grifol get credit for keeping Robert (relatively) injury free last year? No, of course not; it was luck. These guys just get injured continually. It woudn't matter if Jesus Christ was manager.
  23. And can we stop blaming Grifol or the training staff or anyone or anything else for the injuries. This is the player that he is, just like Eloy. Do you really believe that if Grifol and the training staff would have held him out for a few days to rest whatever, that he would have been hurt a week later or two weeks later? Of course not.
  24. Yoan is gonna get the $5 million dollar buy out. but Ryan McGuffey said this and I agree with him. He said unless Moncada can shows that he can stay injury free and stay on the field, the best that Moncada is going to get next year is a sub-million dollar minor league contract loaded with incentives. And I think he will never earn any of those incentives and be out of baseball in a few years. He was the No. 1 prospect in all of baseball when the Sox traded for him. He was the Jackson Holiday of 2016.
