Man, I'm glad I didn't stay up to watch THAT. I hope Toews' injury isn't a "worst-case scenario" - the Hawks don't need any more players out of the lineup for extended stretches. -

And the game goes to a shootout. Thoroughly entertaining game, lots of fun to watch. It's going to be interesting to see how the snowy conditions affect the ice and the goalies' vision in the shootout. -
Nothing stupid here last night. Took the kid to the NYE party at the arcade, got home by 12:30 AM, asleep by 1. Worked out perfectly.

GSP absolutely and thoroughly dominated Matt Hughes. It was textbook. St. Pierre was never in any kind of trouble whatsoever. Matt Serra's in trouble when he comes back from his injury.

This game has been crazy fun to watch so far. LOL at Ryan Miller wearing the tuque over the mask. The light blue Pens jerseys look bad in photos, but look nice on TV. -
Saw The Simpsons Movie yesterday. A little weird, but OK. Not a laugh riot, but enough laughs to keep me there. Decent rental, but I'm glad I didn't pay to see it at the theatre.

QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Dec 30, 2007 -> 07:45 AM) Jim makes more in a year than I do in two or three. CALL A FRIGGIN' CAB, BOZO! That goes for the rest of you non-bozos on this party weekend. I couldn't agree more! If you're gonna get stupid, don't BE stupid! Arrange for a ride home - be smart, get home healthy, safe and without a DUI.

This is stupid: -- F4WOnline.com reports that Vince McMahon was behind the decision to repackage SmackDown's Major Brothers. The WWE Chairman only learned that the two were not really related several weeks ago, says the story. Upon learning that they were lifelong friends, rather than brothers, McMahon was "stunned and frustrated," contending that the current fans would not accept a fake sibling gimmick. He pushed creative to meet with the team and develop new names, hence the wrestlers are now Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins. Their current affiliation with Edge came about after creative followed through on McMahon's directive. Their individual personalities should come out over the course of the gimmick. Anyone want to break the news to Vince that the Valiant Brothers (James Fanning and John L. Sullivan) weren't really brothers? Or that the Dudley Boyz (Devon Hughes and Mark Lomonica) aren't really brothers? Really, Vince? THAT's what current fans won't accept? They'll accept Deadmen, leprechauns, worm-eating Boogeymen, Samoan Bulldozers, and Punjabi Giants, but "fake brothers" are the last straw??? People will accept ANYTHING in wrestling if they like the characters involved. -
I'd love to see New England reach the Super Bowl, only to lose by one point to Green Bay on a Favre touchdown pass to Driver on the final play of the game. That would make me smile.

Taking the kid to Haunted Trails. They have a good little deal on NYE - 15 bucks a head for some game tokens, bad pizza, unlimited pop, contests, door prizes. Should be nice.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Dec 28, 2007 -> 06:38 PM) Uh-oh! Am I seeing a love connection being made here??? LOL Nah, you should know by now I only love two people, and I'm not one of them.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 28, 2007 -> 12:12 PM) So all the sudden tickets are hard to come by.... I really can't find anything in 300 for Sunday.... This is the downside of newfound popularity. It was nice to be able to walk up and get any seat you wanted, but that usually meant the team was crappy. I like the current situation much better. -

My wife rented Superbad because she thought I'd want to see it. I don't, and I don't remember saying anything that would make her think I did. At least she pays a monthly fee and didn't spend money specifically on that rental.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Dec 28, 2007 -> 11:03 AM) My wife and her sisters are going to be making an attempt at driving out to Dubuque this afternoon. They're a little crazy. Critic, quit whining. You got a s***load of stuff for Christmas, so you should just be happy about everything for a long time. Why'd you have to go and remind me of all my cool s*** at home??? It's gonna take me THREE HOURS OR MORE to get home to all my cool s***!!!!!

Coming in to work today was a complete waste of time. Almost no one here, nothing to do except useless "mid-year reviews". Awful. And since I have to take the train to my wife's job to pick up the kid, then take two trains back to my car and slog home through the snow, I should enjoy a fabulous 3-hour commute home. In the absence of the vomit smiley, these will have to suffice:

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 27, 2007 -> 05:48 PM) BTW, did anybody else find it ironic that the Hawks first sellout this season was a game that was on television? Just proves how flawed and wrong Bill Wirtz was all these years. I don't really find it ironic at all. To me it makes perfect sense that if you give people a good look at the atmosphere at a Hawks home game, especially the way they've been playing this year, that people would get interested and head out to the UC. I'll say it again, I am absolutely loving the momentum the franchise is building, and the upcoming Hawks Fan Convention is the only fan convention I'd even consider attending. I'd love to get Tony Esposito and Murray Bannerman's autographs on one of my old goalie sticks. -

QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Dec 27, 2007 -> 03:39 PM) 8 shorthanded goals for Patrick Sharp (who could become a huuuuge star in Chicago), how? Is this a skill that Sharp has, to score with a man down? (Had 4 career shorties before the season started) Luck? Coincidence? Hard Work? If he manages to score 3 more, he will assume the franchise record for SHG in a season. Sharp would assume the record of former Captain and he of the sickest 'stache in the league - Mr. Dirk Graham I think it's all of these, plus a good sense of when to break out of the defensive zone when the Hawks control the puck on the kill. He's been simply amazing since being placed on the Kane/Toews line, and it'll be a damn shame if he doesn't make the All-Star team.
