  1. Junkballers like Old Man Maddux usually give the Sox hitters a hard time, but let's hope that Loaiza can outduel Maddux and give the Sox momentum heading into the series that REALLY MATTERS! GO GET THOSE TWINKIES!!!!!!!
  2. Let's hope that assbag gets to hell in a big hurry. f***ing waste of space.
  3. ...why, YOU LITTLE.... When I went there, Hubbard was a VERY racist school - I vividly remember the parents bringing VERY NASTY picket signs outside the school when the first African American kids were bused in. The N word flowed freely around the school, and those kids were made to feel very unwelcome and under constant threat of attack. It has since gone on to be one of the more racially diverse schools in Chicago, very representative of the neighborhood now.
  4. I remember going past Curie on the bus while a race riot was happening. Kids were throwing punches, kicks and sports equipment at each other, and one musclehead came out swinging a locker door at people! Pretty unbelievable s***. I went to Hubbard in the late 70's, and back then OUR perception was that all the pieces of crap went to Bogan - of course, the Bogan kids thought that about us, too.
  5. I lived in Clearing before I bought a house, and I really like that area. Too bad about Bogan, though.....couldn't get hired at a real school??? ( I went to Hubbard ) :finger I have NO idea how either of those schools are anymore - I went to HS back when our books were slabs of granite and intramural sports consisted of vulture-hunting and boulder toss.
  6. Maybe he figured that he wouldn't be the only Y'all-Mart customer covered in blood?

    I'm Gone

7 weeks with theatre people with NO computers or television??? What the f*** is that - community service??? I think I had a nightmare like that once... (uncontrollable shuddering)
  8. Jose had his chance yesterday, but didn't do it. Maybe he's grown out of that s***? Or maybe waiting to do it at the Deadly Confines? I hope he's grown out of it - he looks like he WANTS to be Sosa when he does that stuff.
  9. Exactly right. Funny how if he doesn't fight back, he's ridiculed for "getting the s*** kicked out of him", yet if he'd have struck back he'd be a low-life wife-beater ( which he WOULD be, if he had struck a woman ). Don't get it at all....
  10. I don't remember Parque having much class. I remember him whining about "not wanting to eat PB&J sandwiches" in the minors. I remember him saying dumb s*** in his short-lived newspaper column. I remember him getting lit up BAD at the end. I just don't have any fond memories of Jim Parque at all. NOT saying everyone has to think that way, just passing along my own memories of Parque, and why I don't miss him at all.
  11. Best show on the radio in my opinion is ESPN Sunday Morning Magazine with Dan LeBetard. He is the crabbiest little bastard on the radio, and ALWAYS funny to me. I refuse to listen to the Score, so I have no idea if Me and Z is any good at all. That station lost me a LONG time ago, and if the Sox move there I'll listen to games on 670 but nothing else. And if Mike North worms his way onto any part of the Sox radio broadcasts, then I won't listen to the games either. I'll be stuck with the TV feed exclusively.
  12. I realize that he's 35, but he does kinda look like a big 8-year-old out there. Could be that giant grin on his face, or the oversized uniform, like he has to wear his big brother's clothes, but he comes off young to me. Of course, I am 41, so he IS a kid to me....
  13. Aren't they "Crosstown" trucker hats? That implies to me that it'll have that OTHER logo somewhere on it, too. That would bring a :puke from almost everyone who gets one, regardless of team affiliation.
  14. Actually, today's win would technically be from a SIXTH starter, wouldn't it? Or....maybe from a "2nd 4th starter", since Diaz replaced Schoe?
  15. Actually, I heard on Friday that for this series and ONLY this series, brooms were NOT going to be allowed in by fans of either team. I guess they didnt want all-out aisle sweeping contests to break out around the stadium....
  16. That's not bad at all, considering the 2 mil the Sox stand to save from getting rid of Koch. That would be a really nice deal for the Sox, let's hope it's more than just dumbass Score bulls***.
  17. Is the retirement immediate, or will Butter take a "farewell tour" through the entire Northern Independent League? Never liked Parque, so no tears shed for him here.
  18. That seems like a lot to give up for a rent-a-player, unless they save some money on that deal and plan to slash payroll drastically for next season. Looks like a fantastic deal from the Sox perspective, but would JR allow KW to take on that amount of payroll?
  19. If the Cardinals can manage to get a reliable starter and push Woody Williams down to the 5th post in their rotation, without sacrificing their current major-league personnel, they will be a serious threat in the NL Central. I still expect the Cubs to win the division, but I also expect St. Louis to stick around the race and make things interesting.
  20. Another insightful and informative SuperSteve post... Quit paddin' your post totals, Steve-O!!!
  21. I doubt they'll be giving those away at all - I imagine they'll be a BIG seller, so why give away what people will buy anyway?
  22. My wife and sister-in-law went to see Prince on Saturday night, but were turned away at the parking lot. They were told that the show was cancelled, but no one said why. Couldn't have been because of low ticket sales - the show was sold out, as are the other 4 scheduled shows. Someone said they saw ambulances and fire engines at the Arena, but there usually are a few of those there anyway, in case of emergency. Anyone hear anything?
  23. The Sens didn't seem to get a thing for Bonk. Wondering if there was some dissension between Bonk and the Sens front office? Or maybe he's too expensive? Just doesn't make sense to trade him for the 77th overall pick or whatever...
  24. I can't wait to get one of those "Sox PRIDE" t-shirts. Those look super-sweet!
  25. When Shingo comes into the game, I swear I am NOT worried about the outcome anymore. I've felt this way the past bunch of his appearances, but today it was really strong. When he came in to face Sosa, my question was not IF he would get Sosa out, but HOW he'd do it. And I considered it a win as soon as he came in. Does this mean that he'll never blow a save? No. But I have the utmost confidence in Shingo as the closer, and I haven't felt that way about a Sox closer in a long time. It feels goooooooooooooooooooooooood............. SHINGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
